I've just been screwed over on the most awesome opportunity of my whole life. The John Robert Powers Modeling and Talent Agency had called me last night to schedule a private audition for tonight in Detroit. They wanted to see how well my acting skills were and if I was movie/commercial-making material. They said that the audition did not cost anything and that my parents could come in if they'd like. They said that all of the people who have gotten into this agency have gone on to Broadway or Hollywood.
I thought to myself, "Hot damn! This is my chance!" They even told me that I could be noticed by a major college (NYU or UCLA). So, I had talked to my dad and he, at first said, "No, I don't think you should. You've got more ahead of you than that acting shit." Then, he said, "Well, I'll discuss it with your mother. OK?" So, I said alright.
Then, today, I gave the agency another call back with my mom's permission. They told me all of the general stuff like, location, time, and all that other stuff. My mom recognized the area code (248) and said, "Isn't that a Detroit area code?" I said, "Yeah, it is." She then told me that I'm not allowed to do last minute crap and then think that I can go some place automatically. My dad told me to get my head out of the clouds and quit dreaming because I'm not going to get very far.
I had to call back and tell them that I couldn't.My parents don't know that I have a better shot at acting than golf. Plus, they think that taking out extra-curricular activities is going to solve the problem. They won't take away golf but yet, that's and extra activity. I think they're full of it.
What do you guys think?
