hi.

I was given a rather hard time by half the Phoenix Rising staff last night for not posting anymore. while I maintain that I have nothing of value to contribute to the intarwebs these days, I guess I can give it another try.

so.

I finally figured out how to sleep on airplanes. (historically, flight length, time of day, and blood alcohol level have absolutely no affect on my ability to sleep on planes. I just can't do it. means lots of knitting.) all it takes is a 10-day break from my 70-hour-a-week job, during which I spend 18 hours a day hauling AV equipment around a hotel. I conked right out the moment I sat down and was exceedingly confused when I woke up looking at clouds from above. (I'm dawdling in Atlanta now, waiting for the last 17 minutes of my Heroes download (as I slept through the little PR watching party last night) on an annoyingly long layover. Atlanta is my favorite airport; you can move between the terminals and they have moving sidewalks!!)

Phoenix Rising was amazing, even though it pwned me. New Orleans was amazing, even though I spent most of my outdoors time walking to/from the Radio Shack down Canal St buying AV stuff. the staff was amazing; I wouldn't be able to work my balls off for a group of people who weren't. other amazing things:
  • my suitcase was underweight (44.5 lbs) on the way home. it was 71 lbs on the way to NOLA, and I ran it over my left big toe and a sizable piece of toenail split and fell off. I discovered I like flying in dresses. (actually, I discovered I like dresses, period. ack.)
  • I saw Björk with vejgurl twice the week I left. I want to be Björk for a day. my mom wants to come next time she plays NYC.
  • Charmed Knits came out two weeks ago, which means I'm officially a published knitwear designer, even if it's niche. one day I'll even have time to design again.
  • I spent literally a month at work building a new laptop. this is something that normally takes about six hours. I have a pretty huge grudge against Thinkpads now. (but I finally got a new laptop from work, and it's a Latitude D420 and tiny and shiny and I named her LEIA because I'm a nerd, and 'cause I'd unthinkingly given away GINEVRA.)
  • really, I can't think of much else. all I do is work, which I kinda consented to, but it's still balls. my cousin is getting married the weekend of the OotP release. Volta is really good. lightstarangel and I are going to Philly to see Keane this weekend. (me? wanderlust? what?)

see? this is doomed to fail, but I can try.

also, huge flist cut. sorry. if I'm gonna try to do this, I at least have to make it manageable.

ps - hello, Burrito.
