what the hell

another phone interview tomorrow.

found eight more boxes of books in the garage. i honestly thought i had all of them inside and shelved, only needing culling. now more decisions.

finally got paid for the first three weeks consulting. that will cover one mortgage payment, life insurance premium, new glasses (sorely needed), and minor payments into savings and college accounts. living expenses remain covered by R, as long as he's able.

started re-watch of doctor who. started re-watch of xena. continued watch of farscape. one episode and then i get bored.

I listened to an audiobook of Ruth Reichl's Delicious! which is a light and amusing first novel. Bits of bad plotting, a tad Mary Sue-ish, but interesting characters and intriguing premise. Plus scenes I knew from NYC and Cleveland, which was fun.

Read the first book in the Rivers of London series, Midnight Riot, which is urban fantasy meets police procedural. Quite liked the personification of the rivers, stream and tributaries of London.

Tried the next Laundry book by Charles Stross but gave it up halfway through. Just didn't care.

Watching the newest Inspector Lewis series on Amazon Prime. Retirement looks good to me. Especially that kind of semi-retirement.

The Phrynne Fisher mystery series continues to entrance. No sign of a romance yet through, and I've read about 7 of the 20 books. Including the last one published so I'm concluding the romance between Phrynne and Jack is TV-based.

somewhat enjoying rizzoli and isles again. it's mostly banter. no romance. although it looks like they are going to kill off a minor character for Drama. i swear to god, banter. all i want is minor mystery and banter. stop trying for anything else, show.

that's about it. it feels strange being the only one in the house not going out to work. well, #2 is home this week but off to music camp on Sunday.

oh, and #1 passed his driving test. now of course he wants to drive to the beach by himself to stay with friends. i am so not ready for this.
