a day off

Jul 12, 2013 08:35

I took the day off.

Because I could, and I wanted to, or rather I didn't want to go to work.

Because it is now T-10 and counting until the lab move unless they delay it again and of course they haven't actually officially scheduled it yet.

I brought work home because I have work to do I just didn't want to go to work to do it. Reading and working on spreadsheets mostly.

There are 8 quarts of sour cherries in the fridge that need washed and pitted. Pitting cherries is the pits, and my back will ache afterwards so delay, delay, delay.

The summer carnival has two more nights to go and it's raining. Should have gone last night but.so.very.tired.

Started B5 fluffy piece for b5_love month in August. Have a title for second piece and outline. Just a title for third piece and inspirational song lyrics underneath. That one won't get done I'm thinking. Delenn/Anna/John in abeyance because the DSS is up next (dreaded sex scene) and I need something quick for August anyways.

All the chores are picking at my conscience, along with the work. The dog, most sensibly, has foregone going outside to pee in the rain. He ate then went back to bed.

The Irish Festival is tomorrow (I surely hope the darn rain stops.) Sun and cider and pounding bodhrans and swirling pipes. Yes.

I will go work out today to save time tomorrow. Market tomorrow then festival all day. The wi-fi in the front half of the gym (with the aerobic equipment; ellipticals, treadmills, bikes) is good enough that I can stream Netflix on the Nook. There is a handy tablet shelf on the machine. It fades in the back with the strength training machines but that's better with music or audiobooks anyway. Still watching through S2 of Beauty and the Beast, dreading the denouement. Starting the trek across Australia with Jules Verne's In Search of the Castaways, cringing at the descriptions of the aborigines. Ouch, 19th century, glad you're gone.

Almost caught up on Longmire. Still v. good. You know what I like? They wear cowboy hats and when they take them off, their hair is flat. Like it would be.

I can't find this amazing gif from Warehouse 13 I saw in one review of The Truth Hurts (S4 finale). It had Myka being perky and reassuring Pete, then turning and crying as she marched off to meet her fate in the operating room. Wish I'd saved that link.

I read a lot on the internet; articles, reviews, whatnot. I've been thinking I would like to keep a record of what I read, not necessarily for reference but just because. So what about Twitter and just using the built-in Twitter function in most magazines and newspapers to tweet links? I don't expect anyone to care, but it would all be in one place then, yes? It would give me an idea how the darn thing works in any case.
