Just a Drive-by
Busy week. Car repair (nail in tire). Half snow day. Two big experiments; two more came in this week. One story finished and off to beta. Nervous about this one; lot of work went into it. Making Light is doing a B5 re-watch and I'm afraid to follow that one too. Sigh. De-Christmas'ing continues. R is going to do the lights and fold up the tree tomorrow.
Many things are going on. I have more work to do prepping the Valentine's thing over at no_shadows_fall , including, you know, writing something for it. Not sure I can maintain the fluff mode this week. Almost set the house on fire leaving candles burning all night and then all day this week. This is the sort of week it's been.
Watching X-Files again; into Season 2. Had a very good time showing #1 Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. It stood up pretty well, and #1 used his minimal French to translate for Napoleon and Joan. Not that Joan said much. Mostly my son can now say 'merde, merde, merde.' Oh joy.
This was such a sad weekend, here and in Arizona. My parents lived in Tucson for a while; lovely town, I really liked it. Especially the downtown area around the University. Lots of cute little one-story bungalows, some adobe construction, painted those desert tones highlighted by bright accenting colors. The desert was surprisingly appealing to me. It's stark and subtle and stripped to the essential of landscape. I got into Zuni fetishes for a while. The different types of stone and the contrast between smooth surface and rough animal shapes, as well as the hidden meanings; I love all of that. If I ever figure out the camera on my phone I'll show you pictures.
Off to bed now; long day tomorrow.
