Day Three (that is, Wednesday)

Jun 09, 2010 13:09

Today began with waking up from one of those intricate and horribly confusing nightmares I get when stressed. Where my lab had been relocated to an upstairs room in the back of a shoestore/podiatry practice, and I had to work with new unfamiliar equipment balanced on tall red stools. Yup, it's going to be one of those days.

Then I had a 90 minute long phone conference with the elementary school where #2 has been deemed a) brilliant and b) not conforming to 7 year old boy standards. He hums and dances and fidgets and leans. Not autism or ASD or Asberger's. Not quite ADHD or hyperactivity. What do you do with a problem like Maria? (Note: not his real name) We're getting an AIF rather than an IEP and I've already forgotten what the first acronym means. Some insight and lots of sympathy and more work to be done. Productive but exhausting is my take/stay home opinion.

Mom wants to go to the mall. No one ever wants to take her to the mall. My sister does take her sometimes but her work schedule precludes most such excursions. My dad's heavy sighs and eye rolls make him an unappealing choice. :) So, c'est moi for the mall. Have to be careful not to let her get too tired. We're going clothes-shopping, whee!

I still haven't done that write-up for work. This afternoon I must do that. Really.

Shipped a Doctor 11 sonic screwdriver to #1 son which was uh, popular? Understatement of the century. Also purchased an adjustable hydraulic wrench for R for Father's Day. ThinkGeek is a grand sort of shopping site for fathers and sons and tool/toy-bonding. They have a section for Doctor Who stuff, and one for Zombies and Bacon. Not sure I want to know. I do know I want LED lights for my kitchen faucet. They glow red with hot water and blue with cold! I always wanted one of those neon lights for under your car. A friend of mine had one; so cool. I'm a sucker for light-up stuff. Did I ever tell you I have bright blue LED xmas lights in my kitchen windows? It's true!

Got A Day Late up at AO3 (pause for applause), then tried for a shorter one part piece and Failed miserably. Maybe later. I'm still not actually sure how ADL got posted there. It just...appeared.
Tried to write a bit on the Advanced Placement sequel but no go. I'm not in that universe's Delenn's head properly at this time. *gloom* Lise's story got a first beta read and that went well enough. I do love my secondary characters. Started reading Conan Doyle's The Lost World and am intrigued by Professor Challenger's wife. I wonder if anyone has written her story...
