I'm going to try and post each day I'm here in WV just to keep track of time. It's been hard to keep track of days and dates this past few weeks. I've also set myself a task each day to help with that. Some have been set for me (doctor's appointments, phone meetings) and I'm trying to take the mornings for e-mail and posts. Right now I'm arguing with AO3 over imports, trying to figure out the easiest way to start archiving my stuff over there. It may be a bit much for my trip-lagged brain. Mulling over the answers to some work e-mail which need addressed and thawing cherries for pie. Mmm. Pie.
Watched First Knight with my mom last night. We agree Richard Gere is v. nice with long hair, and especially when wet. But we would both still pick Sean Connery.
I have weeding to do and flowers to plant. I brought my mom some orange pom-pom marigolds, a bottle-brush plant, and a black-and-blue salvia for her garden. The salvia is lovely; black sepals that open up into electric flue flowers. Waiting until she is awake to direct location of the plants.
I brought over veg from the CSA basket which was well received. Mom managed to shell peas practically one-handed last night while we watched the movie. Dad had started them, and I was continuing when she offered. One of the things that has bothered her the most is feeling useless so I handed them over. She is doing much better and I feel like we dodged a bullet, as well as got a wake-up call, with this accident. There will be more of this type of care-taking in our future.
The Wednesday phone meeting is with the elementary school, concerning accommodations for #2's idiosyncracies. It is probably better that I'm not there, as my poker face needs work. The evaluations have been useful, since we don't see him objectively. It is always good to get another viewpoint. I think there will be only minor accommodations suggested, but it gives us an idea of where to go next.
It's almost 11 now and time for one more cup of coffee and to wake Mom. Dad lets her sleep as late as possible since he feels she's not in pain while she's asleep, but I think she wants to be up while I'm here. Of course we did stay up late watching tv and chatting so one late morning is allowed! More tomorrow, flist. Have a good Monday (it is Monday, right?)
