Does anyone remember the explanation Rory had about how Sailor Moon is a giant robot? I mentioned it to some of my friends and I'm kicking myself for not remembering it.
"That was a conversation between myself and Mike Wixon, wherein I was holding forth that Neon Genesis Evangelion was a show about giant robots. Mike was (not without reason) disputing this. To his statement that it was actually a show about deep psychological damage and how it affects interpersonal relationships, I contended that, in every episode, a giant monster showed up and the cast had a huge brawl with it. Mike, exasperated, shouted that by this standard, Sailor Moon is a giant robot. I replied that yes, Sailor Moon is a giant robot.
It was funny at the time, but really, the entertainment value came from Wixon proceeding to sputter and twitch."

It seems I misremembered some point. But we agree upon the sputtering.

So as I recall all anime was classified by Rory as being one of 2 or 3 categories. Giant robot anime was one of them.
As a counter example I listed "Sailor Moon".
At which point Rory won the argument by classifying Sailor Moon as giant robot anime.
The argument was so absurd I was unable to build a rational argument against it. It was purely tautological.
Sorry if it's disappointing... But that's how it happened.
