A mixed week

Kapcon went well, much better than last year. My "Asterix and the Deep Ones" game was popular enough to be requested for CONfusion. Flip side is I missed Canterbury Faire. But I booked tickets for Rowany Festival and pre-registered for Pennsic.

Still keeping up four sessions a week at the gym. Diet is mostly good, its been a year without coca-cola, but chocolate is still a hard temptation.

I am trying to focus more on house hunting, but even with half a million dollars, I am struggling to find the two bedroom, sunlight, large living room place that would be a *nice* place to live. I could go much further out of town - but I don't want to spend 3-4 hours a day commuting, or to commit myself to being single forever. Going closer to town, my money mostly buys ancient cottages, sub-70 square meter apartments, or at best a modern townhouse. Anyhow, trying not to feel downcast about that, I have lined up a chat with a friend of my father, who is an estate agent in the central city. He should be able to give me a more realistic perspective on what I can afford, and what difference adding a mortgage might do.

Had a few black moods this week, about being 42 and a half and single. It was weird being in Christchurch for almost two weeks over Xmas, and sliding back into the old social group in a comfortable "I belong here" kind of way, while in Wellington I still feel a bit like I'm on the periphery. So gym time, careful diet, making progress on the creative projects.

Now I just need to spend a weekend revising the CV and doign another round of job applications.
