I love the assonance here, and the 'sex and drugs and rock and roll' aspect. It's exactly how I imagine Gabriel drowned his sorrows over the millennia.

He’s a pagan thing, up to his throat in blood and chocolate, and Dad’s forgiveness is everlasting, yeah, but only for his creations.

I think it's less the mixing and more Gabriel accidentally creating a whole concept. I mean, the Trickster figure is resonant through loads of mythologies, and, like I said - my head!canon for Gabriel is that he becomes the Trickster, and beings-who-will-become trickster-figures sort of latched onto that.

Does that make sense? Am I rambling unncessarily? Damn straight I am. :D

Tbh, I do think the angels have been around for quite a long time - and, because I'm cool, there's a bit more to my head!canon when it comes to this particular theory. As I said in the fic, I think Gabriel probably 'slipped' about 2000 years ago, therefore becoming the Trickster, but that he's still responsible for that type, because, as something not-quite an angel, his influence bled through time, in a way, and so his influence and his fall (because dude, archangels don't fall/slip that often!) was felt in ripples all over time.

... I think I watch too much Doctor Who. :D
