Color Me Civic-Minded!

Yep, I got out the vote and rocked it like a colicky baby...and since I'm not of my mom's "OMGyoucan'tpossiblyTELLanyonewhoyouvotedfor" generation, I'll happily own up to supporting Barack Obama. (Inappropriately-humorous YouTube clip, because even the sanctity of casting one's vote isn't safe from my warped sense of the giggle-worthy!)

I'm a teacher...nothing McCain stands for lines up with my core values (argh--I just catch-phrased; sorry, I'll go get a mop).  I'm tired of the same old, same old.  Tired of the Old Boy network...and maybe I'm woefully misinformed (wouldn't be the first time), but I can't in good conscience vote for someone who is, to me, nothing but another incarnation of what I've come to dread about politicians.
I admit to being on pins and needles to see who wins this election, which is something I couldn't honestly say in any of the four elections I'm old enough to have participated in.  It just seems to *matter* more somehow, this time...is it me, or do you guys feel it too?

So far I've kept away from CNN et al., to avoid the OCD-ness that often overtakes me during these sorts of competitions.  I might just wait and see who wins tomorrow morning, because with me it's all or nothing.  Either I "hermit up" and avoid hearing/thinking/reading about exit polls and whatnot, or I sit up till all hours of the morning hitting "refresh" on some election update website.  Methinks I lack ye olde middle ground when it comes to these things...

Cross your fingers and let's see if my guy wins...if he doesn't, I guess we soldier on for four more years.  I hope to Heaven he isn't thwarted by dangling chads and fubar'ed electronic polling machines!
