In general the human brain is an amazing thing. Just as equally amazing is that the human brain is absolutely terrible at identifying things it has not recognized before.
I would now like to intruduce the theory. A phenomenon some have proposed as the “Uncanny Valley,” which refers to a certain point when an unknown subject or object is somewhere between near human and fully human, which provokes a strong sense of profound revulsion or unease in people. And that invisible zone between the two, the Uncanny Valley and what is obvious, can really terrify some people out. And one of the reasons is that the more human looking, but not quite, something seems, the more the inhuman elements jump out and disturb people.
