almost 06

Many people’s hardest critic is themselves, but in my case, it’s my aunt. Besides the obvious reasons, I need not to explain those, but what I am going to explain is what I attempted to make last night. Like my aunt, I love to try new and different foods, but to make them is a different level. Last night after many hours of slow cooking the garbanzo beans/chickpeas, I MADE MY VERY OWN HUMMUS PASTE! :) It came out too lemony or so I thought, but it was missing the tahini, which is hard to find in this area, maybe in San Antonio they might carry it. Anyhow, in the process of blending the hummus I cut myself with the blender, got hummus splashed into my eyes and was running water in my eyes for at least 10 minutes and then I had to use eye drops and to let it all flow out, and finally my mom and I saw this totally tear jerking movie and my eyes were free from the gritty feeling of hummus in my eyes. It sucked LOL

After making fettuccini chicken pasta for my mom, I took some to my aunt and some hummus with pita bread. She loved it and I was happy :) It was my first time making it and I was happy with it and happy that she liked it. I threw in some sautéed chopped mushrooms and this is the recipe I followed:
Traditional Hummus
3 Cans Garbanzo beans (drained)
3 - 4 tablespoons Tahini (Sesame butter)
4 - 6 cloves Garlic (chopped)
1 Lemon or lime
1/3 cup Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper to taste

1. Sauté the chopped garlic in oil over a low flame.
2. Juice the lime or lemon.
3. Place all of ingredients in a large blender. Blend well. This could take several minutes. Your hummus will be thick and have a dry consistency.
4. Add good water (not Southern California tap water if possible) in about 1/8 cup amounts and blend until he desired consistency is achieved.
5. Set the hummus in a service bowl. A few branches of parsley placed on the hummus adds a nice look to the dish.
6. Just before eating make an indent in the center of the hummus plate and pour a small amount of olive oil into the indent.
6. You can eat it right away, but the hummus improves if it sits overnight in the refrigerator.
So it was all good ;) Then I had my fun running errands for both my mom and aunt who are sick right now and I’ve been playing nurse.

I got a cool jacket from my aunt today, a sort of thank you, so I’m all jazzed about it, it’s a crème coloured jacket and very outdoorish like. She told me that I seem to wear earth tone colours, which I never really noticed, her and my mom wear more bold colours. My aunt and I were looking at skirts and she liked the lime green one for me, though a dark hue, but still I couldn’t see myself in it and picked the dark brown skirt lol

Everything is okay all, have a great last day of ’05! :)
