Comparing DjangoCon to WAS

Sep 07, 2010 17:18

WAS is Western Apiculture Society. Beekeeping convention I went to last week in Salem OR.

Much better food Portland Double Tree than Salem Red Lion. Both had popcorn for the afternoon break, but Red Lion didn't have bags. I had to put the popcorn in a goblet. Which held about 1/10 of what the bag held.

I'm screwing around on the internets instead of paying attention to the Django presentations.
However I can track down interesting things I hear in real time. Like ipython. I can also add twitter friends and follow along the twitter feed. I'm not sure if I could have gotten Wifi
at WAS but no one was doing that. They were following the presentations.

The beekeepers seemed a little friendlier. More percentage of women at WAS. Only 3% XX here? Maybe a little more but certainly < 10%. I knew more people at WAS even though attendance is WAS 160 and DjangoCon 250.

I like the WAS T-Shirt a little better.

OTOH people are saying there is a shortage of Django developers.
