act one scene two

armado and moth, start walking from around the bush to the stage at costard's line "...welcome the sour cup of prosperity!" wait till she finishes the line and they are off...then armado will sigh loudly with the back of his hand to his forehead and say his first line as the two of you approach your spots on stage. emphasize the word "sign" for moth to answer and "great spirit" to show your ego. pouty lips after you say "melancholy."

moth, pause for the audience to see his sad face, then emphasize the words you pluck from his sentences such as "great sign."

moth laugh while saying "no, no. oh lord, sir, no."

armado weigh sadness on one hand, melancholy on the other.

armado, give moth a harder punch in the arm at "...because quick" and turn away immediately...walking stage left until you spin back around at "i have promised to study..." walk back toward moth at "i think scorn to sigh..." grab her cheeks with one hand at "comfort me, boy..."

armado, laugh at your own joke after "methinks samson had small reason for it..." then emphasize "surely."

moth, roll eyes after he asks for a ballad.

armado, aside to moth "i do betray myself with blushing" then turn to jaquenetta and say "maid!"

armado, make a silly face when you say "i will tell thee wonders"

jaquenetta, leave something behind...drop a hanky or something for armado to pick up later in his end-of-scene monologue. he will start to follow until costard clears his throat loudly to get his attention. costard jump when armado yells at you and calls you a villian.

costard, grab your belly and shake it when you say "on a full stomach." drop to knees, pleading overdramatically at "let me not be pent up..."

get back up at "nay, nothing master moth..." and when you say "i thank god i have as little patience as another man..." you are talking about armado...gesture toward him somehow at this part.

armado, drop to ground for "i do affect the very ground..." pick up the hanky...put it to face and inhale deeply...rub it all over you...wrap it around your head...your neck...sneeze into it after "yea, he loveth..." kiss it after "whole volumes in folio."

also, throughout all of armado's scenes...we need to work on his mannerisms...things that people can mimick and mock when speaking of him or reading his letters. hands on hips, legs apart would be a good stance for him when he is motionless. perhaps he could lick his fingers and smooth his hair with his saliva (when he says "i do betray myself with blushing")...big movements...overdrama...etc.
