From a Scene of the Daughter of the Phantom (a work in progress)
Kaen Raelin: ~sighes~ You really hurt me!
Phantom's Daughter: I realize that, but did you ever stop to look at this from MY point of view? You hurt me also. However I did act hastily, but only because I do love you. I don't want to be jealous. I'm sorry that I was.
Kaen Raelin: ~sighs not knowing what to say~
Phantom's Daughter: I am stupid and a fool.
Kaen Raelin: C'mere... ~opens his arms~
Phantom's Daughter: *turns away with tears in her eyes and looking up at the vaulted ceiling* And I shall never be worthy of your love.
Kaen Raelin: *He looks as if he is going to get angry again, but chooses to look sad instead* Not if you continue with the melodrama, Vixen. *he speaks her real name in a hushed tone.*
Phantom's Daughter: *her ears flick back at his words, and tentatively she turns around to face him*
Kaen Raelin: Now, c'mere... *he repeats softly in a thick voice*
Phantom's Daughter: *she approaches him, slowly, her head hung low and her arms dead at her sides*
Kaen Raelin: ~he takes her into his arms and hugs her softly~
Phantom's Daughter: *she allows herself to be enfolded in his warm embrace* Am I forgiven? Or is does this mean good-bye? *she asks timidly*
Kaen Raelin: This came onto me rather suddenly... I wish you had come and asked me about it. When you just come storming at me, it hurts. I have forgiven you. ~he tells her gently~
Phantom's Daughter: But this forgiveness comes at a price doesn't it? *she asks sadly*
Kaen Raelin: It comes at a hurt trust. ~he replies in a hushed tone~
Phantom's Daughter: Which means that I shall never try to pursue you in love ever again, doesn't it? *she questions him miserably*
Kaen Raelin: People have been abusing my trust all my life, but I can't forbid you from that... ~he tells her looking away and stroking her hair idly~
Phantom's Daughter: But you shall never recipicate it if I should try. *she frowns*
Kaen Raelin: If you love me, you love me. No one can take that away from you. ~he tells her plainly~
Phantom's Daughter: *she tries to say something but her words don't even get formed on her lips*
Kaen Raelin: I still care about you....
~sighes and kisses her lovingly~ Does that answer your question?
Phantom's Daughter: You have never loved me because I'm a vindictive and bitter vixen.
Kaen Raelin: Then don't be. ~he tries to smile a little~
Phantom's Daughter: *she weeps remorsefully* I'm horrible and wretched creature! I know nothing at all and I've messed up everything! Even when I try to do good, all I end up doing is botching it all! *she draws away from him* I have no clue how to make it up to you for not trusting you. I don't even know who I am anymore. And that is the truth.
*she sighs deeply* What do you want from me? *she turns to him*
Kaen Raelin: ~sighes and lays a finger on her nose~ I just want you to be there for me like I've tried to be there for you.
Phantom's Daughter: How? By just being a friend? I think you can find better friends than me. Honestly do you think I can be a friend to you? Have I ever been a real friend at all?
Kaen Raelin: You have potential. You've been there for me. You've talked sense into me before.
Phantom's Daughter: *she looks away again* When.... when have I ever been there for you? When have I ever made sense much less called you to yours? *sighs and looks at you with resolve, for she meant to say this for a while* Do want the truth from me? Do you want to know what is under this mask?
Kaen Raelin: You may say it. ~he looks at her gently~
Phantom's Daughter: The truth is, it is not you whom I don't trust, but myself. I don't trust that I can hold your attention. That I will always fail you at a pivotal moment, that you will end up choosing another because they are indeed better than me. I fear this, I fear I can't keep your love for me. I feel failure, but I fear that if I were to keep you, that I would lose myself and never really be myself, that for you to look at me, I would always have to wear a mask, just like the Phantom, my father. *looks away once more having tears in her eyes, for it tore at her soul to bare it to him like this*
Kaen Raelin: So you feel I would never keep my promises to you? Am I not a fox of my word?
Phantom's Daughter: No, I feel I would never keep my word. And you've made no promises to me. *sighs* Is there nothing that can be done? Is it already too late?
Kaen Raelin: ~answers her by kissing her and holding her to him~
Phantom's Daughter: *is kissed once more, enveloped in his arms and takes in his musty scent*
Kaen Raelin: ~smiles and parts their muzzles, studying her eyes carefully~
Phantom's Daughter: O, Kaen.... why do you love me so? Why does the moon cast its heavenly glow? I am humbled to be in the presence of a prince, and feel as though you worship me with your kiss. *she softly sings*
Kaen Raelin: ~wasn't expecting a song and he grins~ Wow!
Phantom's Daughter: *blushes not expecting such words to part from her heart to her lips*
Kaen Raelin: I'm no prince, hehe... ~he laughs tenderly~
Phantom's Daughter: *casts her eyes down shyly and blushing even more* You are to me...
Kaen Raelin: Hehe.. ~he laughs bemused~ Would that make you a princess?
Phantom's Daughter: *looks down again* No, that would make me a foolish vixen commoner ... that I would love such a high a creature!
Kaen Raelin: Well, princes often do fall in love with common girls

Phantom's Daughter: But you deserve a Queen! *she protests* I'm more like Fiona... I have draconic blood and I've got 'layers'.
Kaen Raelin: She was still beautiful to Shrek, and besides parfaits have layers...

Phantom's Daughter: *can't help but laugh at that* What a silly donkey! *sticks her tongue out at him in a childish gesture*
Kaen Raelin: ~draws her in to himself and frenches her~
Phantom's Daughter: *is surprised by his quick movements and her tail foof's out as a result*
Kaen Raelin: ~parts the kiss and giggles~ Foofy tail!
Phantom's Daughter: *smiles softly* Does this mean what I think it does? That You are still to be my suitor?
Kaen Raelin: I'll tell you what... You are to be MY suitor. And you must win my love. Feel up to the challenge?
Phantom's Daughter: *mock grumps and sticks out her tongue again* How about we both try to win each other's love... first one who wins gets to.... to... *thinks deeply for a moment but quickly gives up* I don't know... something.
Kaen Raelin: Ah, okay then... We'll think of something. ~he smiles down on her, giving her a light kiss on the top of her head~
Phantom's Daughter: *smiles broadly at this* Oh Kaen, you really are too kind to me! *she winks and gives him a nuzzle. She looks more happy than she's ever been in forever. After a minute she notices he doesn't reply back. She pokes his side softly, wondering if he's daydreaming.*
Kaen Raelin: Hmmm? ~he replies sleepily~
Phantom's Daughter: *She realizes that her suitor has fallen asleep standing up, so she takes his arm over her shoulder and drags him over to her bed. Whereupon she pulls back the covers and lays his body in the bed, pulling the covers back over him* Sleep! Sleep my prince! For when you awaken may you find me more real than just a dream!

Kaen Raelin: ~sighs not knowing what to say~

That I will always fail you at a pivotal moment, that you will end up choosing another because they are indeed better than me. I fear this, I fear I can't keep your love for me. I feel failure, but I fear that if I were to keep you, that I would lose myself and never really be myself, that for you to look at me, I would always have to wear a mask, just like the Phantom, my father. *looks away once more having tears in her eyes, for it tore at her soul to bare it to him like this*

Phantom's Daughter: No, I feel I would never keep my word. And you've made no promises to me. *sighs* Is there nothing that can be done? Is it already too late?

Whereupon she pulls back the covers and lays his body in the bed, pulling the covers back over him* Sleep! Sleep my prince! For when you awaken may you find me more real than just a dream!
