Sooooooo. Haven't posted in a while, which is weird because it's not like I'm not online. Just being quiet, I guess. Only now it's storming outside, and I can't go take a shower like I wanted to (I will not shower or talk on the phone during storms, I am a scaredy cat), so I'm killing time. So what's new?
Two weeks ago, one of my neighbors introduced himself to me in my front yard. It was a bit weird, but he's a neighbor, so I tried to be friendly. He has called me at least once every day since then. *screens calls*
I went to a sci-fi convention!
hanncoll,
marny_h96, &
zillah975 came to town for Dragon*Con, after I showed them around town (the finer points, like watching crazy people attack SUVs, where my favorite graffiti is that's now been painted over, and hey, homeless people smearing washing my windshield for great yay!) and showed off my house (and discovered the true greatness of the movie Marco Polo - because how could a movie starring Ian Somerhalder with a bad Italian accent and a large collection of strange headgear, Brian Dennehy as Kublai Khan, and BD Wong as a Chinese manservant named PEDRO be anything other than sheer cinematic success?), we went to a few sessions on Sunday. I enjoyed the Apocalypse sessions, lots of thinky stuff.
I totally have a new fandom - Supernatural rocks, and if you aren't watching you are missing out!
I had someone come out and set traps for my squirrel problem.
Caught a squirrel in a trap.
The guy forgot to come get the squirrel over the weekend like he was supposed to, so then I had a dead squirrel in a trap. I considered leaving it there, to serve as a warning to other squirrels (or rats with fluffy tails, as I now refer to them as) like when they used to put beheaded people's heads on spikes on the London Bridge. But then flies started circling so I reconsidered.
I have had my hearing re-checked and the operation was a success! My hearing is better than it was, and should continue to improve over the next year.
I went to church on Sunday for the first time in about 3 years. It felt good, it feels like something I'm missing in my life right now. I don't think the church I went to will end up being my church, but it was nice to go. Scott went with me, and then afterwards we met Jon (his bf) for lunch. Then we came back to my house, where someone from the church had left us a welcome bag, complete with homemade chocolate chip cookies. Many "Jesus Cookie" jokes were made, but those were some good cookies.
Okay, storm has turned to a monsoon, but I really want a shower, so I'm going to go risk it. There's not so much thunder now. If you don't hear from me again, I got 'lectrocuted.
