Something I had to turn in...

The assignment for this book was to "mark as I would in college". In college, there will be no one looking over my shoulder to make sure that I highlighted enough words or wrote enough in the margins. This I am very thankful for. As you can probably tell by my book, I am not too crazy about writing things in my notes or using a billion different colors.

I feel like if I highlighted something, I should be able to tell why I did when I reread the text, therefore I do not need to write anything along with it. I also do not use different colors, because I feel like I will know what element I marked for by rereading the text again. I also don't think I would even mark for half of the stuff we do anyway, because to be honest I think some of it is silly and most of the time obvious. If I was going to mark every characterization I saw in a book, every page would be orange. Is that necessary? No. I don't see why people highlight ninety percent of their book. Once you get carried away like that, the unhighlighted text tends to stand out more. If I am going to look back at my book for reference of important stuff, highlighting every little detail would defy the whole purpose of the highlighter, which is to make you not have to reread everything again! Whew. It feels pretty nice to finally rant after all the stuff we had to do in this class. Anyway, I hand you the book exactly the way I marked my House of the Spirits novel when Mrs. Reich was lazy and didn't really check markings thoroughly. This is roughly how I would mark on my own in college (but even this statement is pushing it, because I think I did even more than I would, just so I could impress you… ugh).

yay for being a senior and not giving a crap anymore lol
