muse_shuffle Prompt 1.9.10 - McCartney/Wings Lyrics - Give 'Em Hell, Kid

Jun 22, 2008 17:42

"What does it matter to ya; When you got a job to do; You gotta do it well; You gotta give the other fellow hell." ~Live and Let Die, Paul McCartney/Wings

"Morasca, my office."

Anna and Riedel exchanged confused glances when they heard VanBuren poke her head out and bark out Anna's name.

"Comin', L-T." She sighed and rose from her desk, giving Beretti and Carson a shrug as she trotted off to her COs office. Once inside, she shut the door behind her and looked up at VanBuren. "Lieu, if this is about the overtime thing--"

"I got a call from the Chief of Detectives."

Plopping down into the chair, she visibly stiffened at the mention of the Chief. Experience taught her that a call from him meant a promotion or she was in trouble. Again. Since she hadn't done anything that would merit a promotion to Second Grade, her shoulders slumped. This was a bad sign.

"Effective immediately, you're being transferred to the 1-2. You're gonna be working with the Crime Lab again and you report to their supervisor later."

The room started to spin for a moment as the news hit her. This definitely wasn't what she was expecting. "I-- what? Why?"

VanBuren just looked at her and shrugged. "He thinks your talents are better suited elsewhere. He wants you workin' with the lab. So pack up your desk and report to Mac Taylor."

Anna nodded and rose from her seat, heading to the door. After opening it, she glanced back at her former CO. "VanBuren? Thanks for everythin'. You've been a great CO." She stepped out and headed to her desk, where an empty cardboard box sat.

"Congrats, Anna." Beretti came over and clapped her friend on her shoulder. "You're movin' on up in the world."

"It's not a promotion, Ang." She said flatly as she began to pack up her things, a wave of nostalgia hitting her. "But... thanks."

After packing up her things, she took a deep breath and looked around. "Thanks for everythin' guys. Riedel, take care of Beretti for me. William, I'll see ya around."

Carson came up to her and hugged her tightly before grinning proudly at her. "Give 'em hell, kid."

"Always do." She smirked and gathered up her box of things, stepping out of the 27th Precinct for the last time.
