So I'm driving in the disgustingly warm weather on my way to work this morning, jamming out to some recently-old tunes in the form of Modest Mouse. Adam, my concert-going-partner-in-crime, texts me and says the
Austin City Limits music fest schedule was released today and he was bitter about overlapping bands.
Of course I keep myself from swerving thinking the absolute worst has happened:
Silversun Pickups and
Tegan & Sara are scheduled at the same time on different stages, and with my luck, on clear opposite ends of the park.
I text him back as quickly as possible all the while trying to shift, steer AND keep myself alive which is an everyday challenge when one is faced with the drivers in this city. Luckily, they're not overlapping. Same day yes, but hours apart on different stages. Crisis averted. He was just bitter about CSS and Ingrid Michaelson overlapping. Then THAT was pretty much a given on who we'd see.
I mean, Adam and I worked for and hung out with Ingrid a few months ago at a show of hers here in CO. CSS, I have yet to see live. CSS I *could* see live twice if Adam and I were going to the second day of CO's
Monolith Music Fest, but alas, that fest is the weekend prior to Austin, and let's face it. We're two broke college kids and are only going for the first day. Why? Because Silversun Pickups are doing their second to last live show here in CO before retreating to the studio to finish their new album. Their last show of course being in Austin.
I get to work, clock in and whip out the laptop instead of actually doing work. Because really, I never work. Unless you count MySpacing, LJing, FaceBooking and listening to music working. Then in that case, I'm a workaholic. Back to the point, I hop onto ACL's site and blam! They have
this nifty thinger so you can make a schedule of the bands YOU wanna see. Better yet, you can combine the schedule with a friend's and have one giant massive borderline amazing collective schedule, minus the shit bands you don't care to see.
My own happy little schedule:
http://acl08.sched.org/mg87 Now that I'm secure in my knowledge that T&S and sspu are golden. The only thing left to worry about is making the money to either a)drive down there or b)fly. Who knows what'll be cheaper/fool proof. Gas prices are going up and it seems every airline and their mother are going bankrupt. Oh. And finding the cheapest and least bed-buggiest place to stay might help.
I wonder if
Nikki of sspu will let me stay on the tour bus. Heyyyyyy roomie!
