toward peaks

we dosed saturday afternoon
and hiked to the glacier
as curtis said as our eyes lined up with the lake water, it kicked us into high gear and we were laughter and photos and posing
at the house we waited for dan to be ready and we took vince to boulder
the rain began to fall while the sun shined and as we got into separate cars dan asked "are you ready to see a rainbow"
there were rainbows which intersected rainbows.
rainbows flying out of the street and rainbows flying off car tires
those without dose would see them too
it was to behold, it was

campfire no.1
our plans were to set up camp at the boulder mountain lodge
sit in the hot tub, drink our tequilla and party for an evening.
no vacancy cause us to drive into the mountains 30 more miles and buy firewood at the nearest gas station before setting up camp in the woods.
As we made ourselves more comfortable with tequilla and campfire feelings, we noticed more and more cars driving by becoming 4 to 5 deep.
there must be a party.
dan asks and they tell us to follow the glowsticks. of course we have stumbled upon a rave in the woods. of course. dan stomps out the campfire we lovingly built and we set out to follow glowsticks.
campfire no.2
we arrive at the party loudly and throw our firewood on their fire
they start up the generator
and in the time it takes to here one Underworld song, the cops roll up. our story of finding them is well known at this point, in so that we are allowed to go back to our campsite. we eventually go back but not before dan finds us rave goodies.
campfire no.3
dan leads us back to a different campsite and we set up our fire and our tent for the cops to see we are campers.
the tequilla is spilling down throats, mine curtis and dan, but not katie nor katie
after much debate and chatting some cars pull up and people join us.
smoking drinking, dan spills the tequilla over and realizes there are only 4 shots left. he finishes them
dan and curtis both blacked out
and katies are tired
we coax the partiers to leave our space and then i coax katie to stay up until sunrise with me to let the crew rest some before we drive home.
we walk towards where we see the sun rising with my dog in tow. i want to get into a clearing for a perfect view.
brutus starts to bark excessively.
we look to where he stands and not one hundred yards from us is a huge elk standing tall proud dangerously big and suspicious.
we spin around and quickly make our way back to camp and full of energy from our profound experience we pack up the cars and share.
we are head to toe with soot and we don't know how we ended up so dirty, filthy.
we get back to our house and our hot water heater is broken. of course.
so we all pass out dirty, dreaming surreal dreams because it seemed to be our destiny that day.
