Challenge theme v. vidshow ideas!
We're getting a number of really great suggestions, but I wanted to make a distinction between a "theme" for a challenge show, and suggestions that are probably more appropriate for a vidshow. It's possible that the suggestions we already had were misleading this way, as targeting songs from a particular era or generation might actually be more vidshow oriented than thematic. Unwisely, I hadn't thought about it too closely until I started seeing suggestions that are more content-specific than thematic. *g*
What we generally look for is some kind of general idea/concept/topic/subject that will inspire vidders, who can then go and apply it however they want. Hence previous themes of "luck," "milestones," "dream." A particular type of music might also work, but doesn't really have both the freedom and the unifying element of a true theme. Think less concrete, more idea.
Suggestions that are isolated to a single fandom aren't workable for our purpose, because that would eliminate anyone who wasn't into that single fandom. We'll also be eliminating some ideas prior to the poll, so don't anticipate every suggestion ultimately appearing!
