Thanks so much to everyone who has responded to the call for programming suggestions post I made almost two weeks ago. We have another week before the April 10th deadline to suggest vidshows and panels and volunteer to run them. (See my original post for details ( Read more... )

NEWBIES THAT ROCK: Vids you haven't seen yet by promising new vidders you haven't met yet.

Relatedly --

MY FIRST VID: A collection of the first vids made by today's BNVs.

Yes, there are BNVs. And you're one of them. Oh, you are so. Shuddup. Take it like a man. :p

Ooh, I like that, though there's obvious potential for disaster when it comes to agreeing on who to include.

What about first vid and most recent vid? I just went through a massive downloading spree over at heres_luck's, and it was really fascinating--and, I think, instructional--to watch her vidding evolve over time.

Well, vidshows aren't programmed by committee -- the VJ picks her selections herself. So it might not be *that* much drama. (:

I like the first/most recent idea, too, but I'm more keen on a showcase: a single vidder, selections from her entire body of work in chronological order. Maybe paired with a panel where she talks about her evolution from vid to vid.

We've talked about doing this in the past, but so far it hasn't happened. Hmmm...

I think showcase turned into SR -- which was awesome, but not the original idea. I like the idea of showcase as a vidshow with talking in between. I think a show + panel would be overkill.

And I do like the idea of including other vids not by the vidder -- such as the first vid she saw, or that made her want to vid, or that significantly influenced her style or a particular vid.

Such faith, you have...

Is this the point at which I shout "hey, look everyone, Laura just volunteered!" and run away?

*laugh* I've already informed the concom that I'm willing to VJ again this year. We'll see what makes the cut.

Inform the concom some more, sweetheart. Does this mean you're willing to VJ anything you've suggested here? I'm making lists and sorting them into volunteers and no volunteers, so I need to know, please. Thank you!

Hmmm...

My life has actually become rather crazier since I made that offer. :/

When do VJ'd show submissions have to be received? That information will help me make my decision.

Oh, and by the way, any answer is fine. I wasn't even following up with people who didn't specifically volunteer along with their suggestion comment or by direct e-mail to me, but then you said what you said to Katie and I got confused. If you're too swamped by life, certainly don't sweat it!

Yeah, I think it's going to be too much now. I'd originally planned to VJ, but at the moment I have four vids on deck, plus a client who wants their stuff by July 1, plus my regular job, plus school starts again June 1.

::blanch::

My offer to mod panels is still valid, though. I'd be up for pretty much anything that's been suggested, although naturally my expertise varies from topic to topic. (: To make up for the VJ flaking, I'll be happy to mod or co-mod several panels.

Thanks for being so understanding.
