Mar 31, 2006 10:53

Hey, kids! What time is it almost?

ALMOST AUCTION TIME!

The volunteers are getting ready, the auction form is being buffed and polished, the planets are aligning in their orbits. This Monday, April 3rd, the 2006 Vividcon Vidder Auction will begin!

To give you a sneak peek and help you spread the word, here's the full list of volunteer vidders, with their fandoms, requirements, preferences and so forth. Take a look!

In alphabetical order...

1. AbsoluteDestiny
ian@absolutedestiny.org
http://www.absolutedestiny.org/musicvideos.html

My vidding source comfort zone (in no particular order): Japanese
school girls, David Lynch, Firefly/Serenity, horror movies (slasher,
psychological, j-horror, giallo, you name it), Alias, giant robots,
BSG (2004), William Shatner, The Shield, "bad" movies, Veronica Mars,
porn, Star Wars (original trilogy), magical girls, kitch 80s fantasy
or sci-fi, muppets, extreme violence, cute dancing things, basically
any film ever that isn't a Ben Affleck vehicle. I'm open to pretty
much anything provided I've got the time to watch it and I'm supplied
the DVDs to edit with. If it's crazy, I'm even more keen.

My editing style: I enjoy editing things that are upbeat or comic but
equally enjoy the other extreme of violent, weird or disturbing. My
goals in editing are to make people think or to make people joyful.
I've not much shipper experience and most of my slash experience is
comic... so I'm more of a "themes, moods and symbolism" editor, hence
the arty leanings. If it's clever, I'll do it. If it's ironic, I'll
do it. If it's fucked-up, I'll do it. If it's crazy as hell, I'll do
it. If it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on, I'll do
it. I also have pretty decent technical abilities so if some tech
experimentation is desired I can give that a shot. I like the pretty.

Things I will not do: one-dimensional unoriginality. Should I be
given something boring and simple then I will either end up vidding
against that idea by including something that will subvert it or will
add some complexity. So either give me mutifaceted ideas or give me
something simple to see what other layers I end up adding to it. I
will not edit trite music. I am much pickier about music than source
so I reserve the right to veto any musical choices in order to
preserve my sanity. I will, however, vid shitty music if the goal is
humourous or the idea is just plain awesome. If you don't know if
your music is shitty or not, ask me :)

I'm happy to work collaboratively and I'm happy to just get on with
it. Either is fine. However, it must be known that I have a slightly
shorter deadline than everyone else - I have to have the vid done by
early to mid June as I have to be working on other people's tech
problems leading up to the vid submission date. If you're good with
that and want something that's a bit different, I'm probably the
vidder to bid for. If you have any questions or want to discuss
things before you bid, contact me and I'll be happy to answer.

2. Andraste
andraste@bigpond.com
http://www.altogetherelsewhere.net/blueshades/vids.html

Fandoms I can vid in are:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Farscape, Firefly, Babylon 5, Alias,
Spooks/MI-5, Wire in the Blood, Ultraviolet, Red Dwarf, Press Gang,
Doctor Who (new school or old school), Futurama, Lord of the Rings,
The Matrix, Lawrence of Arabia, Spider-man, X-Men, Hellsing, Yami no
Matsui.

I'm more than happy for the buyer to choose the song and make
suggestions about clip choice.

3. Killa
killa@slashcity.com
http://seacouver.slashcity.net/vidland/vids.html

Fandoms I can vid:

Alias, Angel, Band of Brothers, Battlestar Galactica (new one),
Buffy, Cowboy Bebop, Dead Like Me, Dead Zone (need source help for
eps not on DVD), Deadwood (and other shows starting with Dead),
Entourage, Firefly, Highlander, Highlander: the Raven, Hornblower,
Jeremiah, Lord of the Rings, Magnificent 7, Miracles, movies (if
they're out on DVD), Odyssey 5, Queer As Folk UK, Rome, Sopranos,
Sports Night, Star Trek: TOS, Starsky & Hutch (need source help for
eps not on DVD), Supernatural, Veronica Mars, Wiseguy (need source
help for eps not on DVD), Wonderfalls, Xena.

As for choosing the song, I'd prefer that you have something in mind
before you bid. I'd be more than happy to discuss ideas with you, and
may have suggestions for some fandoms, but really, I want to make you
happy. I do reserve the right to exercise veto power over any song I
feel would be torturous to work on. Most musical styles are fine with
me, but there are certain artists I can't deal with, Evanescence and
Phil Collins among them. I might be open to a multi-fandom vid if I
think it's feasible in the time allowed.

You can give as much or as little input into the clip choices as you
like, and I'd welcome ideas about what you want to see. If you know
of a fandom that we share that I've forgotten to list here, you're
welcome to email me to see whether I have source.

4. Laura Shapiro
laura@humandesign.com
http://www.laurasha.com/

FANDOMS: Battlestar Galactica, Buffy, Farscape, Due South, Firefly,
Lord of the Rings, Red Dwarf, Six Feet Under, Sports Night, The
WestWing, The X-Files, plus any movie that I can stand to watch
(meaning no Tarantino or other big lumps of senseless violence). If
you're not sure whether your movie will squick me, feel free to ask.
I'm sure we can work something out.

MUSIC: Any song, any genre, that's 5 minutes long or less. I am not
super-amazing at sound editing, so I'd prefer a song that doesn't
require it. But yes, any genre. I'm most comfortable with folk and
rock, but feel free to challenge me. If you need to share your vision
of Celine Dion with the world, I will cringe and do it. Ditto heavy
metal, rap, punk... I will cringe, but I will do it.

CONCEPTS: I will do slash, het, gen, character study, non-narrative,
ensemble, whatever. The only thing I'm not up for is a multi-fandom
vid, because collecting the source is a pain.

5. SDWolfpup
sdwolfpup@gmail.com
http://www.wolfpupserenade.com/videos.html

TV shows open to vid (all seasons unless indicated otherwise):
Farscape; Buffy; Angel; Star Trek: the Next Generation; Scrubs
(seasons 1-2); due South (season 1); Carnivale; Deadwood; Firefly &
Serenity; South Park (seasons 1-3); Family Guy (seasons 1-3);
Battlestar Galactica (new series); Stargate Atlantis (Season 1);
Doctor Who (9th & 10th Doctors); Wonderfalls; CSI (season 1); Horatio
Hornblower; Dead Like Me (season 1); Keen Eddie; and the 10th Kingdom
miniseries. Anything else, please ask first.

Movies: Anything I can rent on Netflix! Musicals, action-adventure,
romantic-comedies, dramas, historical epics, kung fu movies -
whatever floats your boat.

Music: Any genre you want - opera, country, classical, rap, pop,
metal, jazz, folk, world music, whatever. I would prefer not to vid
Evanescence, though, since I really am not sure I can do anything new
with them right now (unless you have a comedy idea). Otherwise, I'll
try anything. It's best if you bring your own song file, but if you
don't have a copy, I'm sure we can find it, so that's not mandatory.
I ask that if you pick a song I already have firm plans to vid, that
we find something else, but I'm happy to work with you as much as I
can, feel free to email me first to ask. We can (and I likely will)
edit songs down if they're longer than five minutes, so don't let
that stop you.

Mode of Operation: Give me as much or as little beforehand as you
want. If you only have a song and a fandom, or if you have specific
clips in mind, I am yours to command. I'm willing to try whatever
style of vid you have in mind (shippy, funny, dramatic, action).
Consider me your vidding remote control. *g*

6. Sweetestdrain
mlefay@gmail.com
http://sweetestdrain.livejournal.com/119707.html

Viddable Fandoms:
Due South, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis,
Firefly(/Serenity), Buffy/Angel (although may need help with source),
Farscape, Slings & Arrows, Gilmore Girls, Highlander, Keen Eddie, The
Pretender (seasons 1-3), Carnivale, House M.D. (season one), Veronica
Mars, Invisible Man, Queer as Folk, The L Word. I'm also willing to
vid most movies.

Pairings: I'm cool with gen, het, slash, even incest if need be. No
RPS, (if simply because I have no idea how to even vid it).

Music/Song Preference:
I like most music, so I'm open to pretty much anything. Would prefer
songs that aren't current radio/MTV hits, newer "r 'n' b" or "college
rock" (like Maroon 5), but I'm sure there are some exceptions even to
that rule. I reserve the right to say no to a song if there's just
NO way it'll work for me, but I'm willing to negotiate until I can
vid something the bidder is happy with.

So, think it over (perhaps with the appropriate amount of evil rubbing-together of your hands and the occasional dastardly chuckle), and we'll throw out an opening announcement on Monday!
