Coming down to the wire
Yay! I found a minute to talk to you all :)
We are now running the show beginning to end, over and over with the orchestra, chorus, dancers and mics.
The show is looking great, and since we are in such great shape, our wonderful director hasgiven us the morning and afternoon off!!!
We were going to do some cleaning up at noon, then come back for the final dress rehearsal at 7:30, but she has cancelled that rehearsal and now we just need to show up for the full dress!
Amazing!
TV crews and print media have been in the theatre watching us for the past few days... promotional stuff mostly, little "spotlight on the arts" sections for the local NBC & ABC affiliates... that kind of thing. Well, On Tuesday, a print reporter for a newspaper saw us rehearse and asked our PR team if he could get an interview with me.
What?!!? Seriously? Me?
A phone interview was set up for yesterday afternoon- we spoke mostly about how the religious themes of the show are metaphors for so many social and political situations and also how I, personally, have reacted to the piece. Really, the show, though of course with the Roman Catholic Mass as it's center, is really about acceptance. Acceptance by family, friends, deity, whatever... And when it is considered from that perspective, the show becomes less about religion and much more about the human condition, which we all share no matter what our beliefs are. It was an interesting interview, actually. We spoke for over 15 minutes. I can't wait to see what the article looks like!
Also, the opera singers in the cast have been saying very sweet things to me about my singing and performance. They have trained for so long- nobody knows the human vocal intrument like an opera singer, it is all they focus on. Just the fact that they notice and enjoy my sound is mind blowing to me!!!
I work with some insanely, frighteningly talented people. I wish you could all come see the show, it is going to be such an amazing production on all fronts.
So, now I am relaxing in my hotel room and catching up onsome TV I missed this week (OMG GLEE!!!!). Perhaps Hot Tub later with the girls :)
