Summary: When someone starts taking the boys’ next job; talking to people before they can, getting info before they can and even taking out the ghost before they can. Dean is pissed and will even go as far as calling off Team Free Will’s planned time off to find out who it is. Although once he does, he may wish to have gone with the time off.

“Pack your shit, I found a case.” Dean yelled as he barged into the dingy hotel of the week the Winchesters and their angels were currently staying at. Sam, being used to his brother’s loud entrances thought nothing of this and began to head back to his room to complete the order of packing to go. The angels however felt the need to question the older hunter’s demand, both thinking the plan after the last hunt was to take a few days off.

“Where’s the case Dean-o? And what’s the rush?” Gabriel paused long enough in enjoying his chocolate bar to question, not because the Archangel really wanted to know, more because he knew it would annoy Dean and really he’d been too nice to the boy the last few weeks. “Are you in that much o a rush to have yourself thrown against the wall by this baddie of the week? Thought we were in for some R&R this weekend?”

“Ha ha, you’re just a riot today and change of plans on the time off, there’s a job so that means we’re heading out. So are you going to help pack feather head, or just sit there, get in the way and make lame jokes at our expense?” Dean was already in the process of throwing clothes in his duffle bag, while Castiel began looking over the newspaper that had been dropped on the bed.

“I just want the facts about this case of yours Dean-o. I’m hoping we can avoid a repeat of last week when that ghoul decided to use Sammy’s head to remodel that wall.”

Now everyone in the room could detect the change in the conversation, this had been happening a lot lately between the two older brothers. Sam was convinced they all needed a break, maybe a vacation for both couples, which was why he’d pushed for them taking time off this weekend. As much as Sam loved having his brother, his boyfriend and his friend all in one place to keep an eye on them, he would be the first to admit he liked it when Gabriel would surprise him with a dinner for two. Castiel, Sam knew, felt the same way about the few times the younger angel managed to get Dean to go somewhere, just the two of them. Seeing that the two were about to go from friendly bickering to a full on fight Sam felt the need to intervene, with a quick glance of blue eyes, the younger Winchester realized he had back up in this plan.

“Where are we heading?”

“Yes Dean, what is the job you’ve located? I can’t see anything in this paper that would require us looking into it.”

Dean turned away from his staring contest with Gabriel to see his blue eyed angel sitting on his bed his now classic confused head tilt in place, a sight that Dean would never admit out loud he found utterly adorable. That look was enough to make Dean forget that he was mad at the Archangel, and wish that they were the only two in the room in a matter of seconds. As if picking up on what the hunter was thinking Gabriel gave a wink at his little brother then disappeared to reappear behind Sam.

“I would like to point out that it’s already after five, and we are paid through till tomorrow. So how about we take the opportunity to get one more good night’s sleep than head out bright and early in the morning?” Without waiting for an answer from anyone else in the room the Archangel snapped his fingers sending both him and Sam back to their room for what he planned to be anything but a restful night.

Dean glanced over his shoulder as if to start the fight back up with Gabriel. Castiel decided that he was going to enjoy this time with his righteous man, since they seldom had free time for just the two of them once the brothers started working a job.

“Dean? What is the job? I’m afraid I still do not see anything in this paper.” Castiel had learned a few tricks in the few months that he and Dean had been together, one of them was the use of Dean’s ‘Hot Buttons’ as Gabriel called them. So when Dean turned his attention back towards the blue eyed angel he was again met with the confused little head tilt this time Cass had thrown in just a bit of confusion into his eyes. The angel watched, before his eyes the older Winchester changed from a man focused on hunting some evil SOB to a man focused on him, it was a sight he had grown quit fond of.

“Don’t ever tell him I said this, but Gabriel may have the correct idea. Maybe one more night in the hotel isn’t a bad plan … we can get started in the morning, after a good … nights … sleep.” As he talk Dean stepped closer to the bed they had shared the last few nights, losing his jacket and outer shirt on the way. The last three words were punctuated with the hunter sliding in to straddle Castiel’s lap. “What do you say we put this down and go to bed?”

Dean never gave Cass a chance to answer but simply pulled the newspaper from his unresisting hands to be thrown on the floor somewhere behind him. Just has a loud bang erupted from the room next store to announce that the other couple in Team Free Will was starting to have fun, Dean pulled Castiel into a fiery kiss that left no doubt what the emerald eyed man had meant when he said go to bed.

The next morning found Sam and Dean speeding down a highway in the Impala with AC/DC blaring out of the car’s speakers. The quartet had met early at the diner next to the hotel to discuss the job over breakfast. After some fighting between Dean and Gabriel, a lot of bitch faces from Sam, and twenty minutes of once again explaining to Cass why even though he didn’t require food he should still enjoy the pancakes that Dean had ordered for him; the group split up with plans to meet later in the new town. The angels had needed to return to Heaven to check in and see how things were going in the rebuilding of everything up there without Michael around to call the shots, and honestly had no desire to be trapped in the car with the two hunters for that long of a drive. The brothers packed up the rest of their stuff and headed out with the intention of driving straight through the fifth-teen hours it was going to take them to reach Meeker, Colorado . If everything went according to plan the four would be meeting up for dinner (which would no doubt be a repeat of the fiscal they had at breakfast) to finish going over the job information, and anything new Sam found on the drive there.

“So three deaths, all of which are connected to the same hunting club, the cops think it’s just one of the group’s members carrying out some weird packed or something. From what I can see nothing points to anything supernatural … I don’t know Dean, the police may be right. Why do you think this is more than just some psychopath?” Sam had been researching the articles and police reports for the last five hours of the drive, he will never quite thanking Gabriel for having the Wi-Fi hotspot added to his cell phone. With the number of jobs they’d been going through the last couple of months since the end of the apocalypse that never was, it was nice to be able to have more than just a newspaper article to start with when the brothers got into town. This way they could plan which hotel they stayed at better by knowing where important things in the town were, such as the local diner, library and police station, if they needed to make a fast exit; it was best if they didn’t have to drive by that on their way out if they were making a break for it. “Looking over everything all I can see is that these guys are horrible shots, or maybe one of them is really pissed off at the others.”

“I don’t think so Sammy, there’s just something there that feels wrong. Let’s just say my spidie senses are tingling.”

“Your spidie senses are tingling? I thought you were Batman?” Sam smirked when he saw his brother get upset about being called out on confusing his superheroes.

“Shut it bitch!”

“Jerk”

With the music turned up in the car and the laptop put away the Winchesters enjoyed the rest of their drive with brotherly insults and each silently planning what they were going to do to their angels when they finally got some time off. A few hours out of Meeker, Sam woke Dean up to see if he wanted to head straight to the hotel to check in or should they swing by the diner first for dinner. They decided to head to the hotel and call the angel after they were checked in.

“You know how Cass is, if we’d called him from the diner he would have just angel zapped himself into the booth seat next to me instead of showing up outside and walking in through the front-“

“For the last time I do not ‘angel zap’ anywhere, it is just that we travel to fast for you to see when we fly.” Castiel now stood directly behind the terrified hunter, who would forever deny the girly shriek which had erupted from his lips, with a smirk that showed he’d been spending too much time with his older brother Gabriel.

“Fuck Cass! What have I said about showing up like that?”

“That I should stop or that you should attach me with a cowbell.”

“I don’t know Dean-o, something tells me you would still jump when he showed up with a cowbell on, you might subconsciously think you’re being attacked by a ghost of a cow who goes after fans of cheeseburgers.” Gabriel , like his little brother, had appeared in the room and was currently sitting on the lap of a slightly surprised and annoyed Sam Winchester.

“Gabriel!”

“Hi lover,” Gabriel knew he was in trouble so a quick kiss and he was gone with the last minute shout of a promise to have the table saved for them at the diner.

“Don’t look at me Sammy, he’s your angel.”

“Yeah, we should get to the diner before he eats all of the sweets.”

“Gabriel would just create more if he began to get close to eating all of the sweets Sam.”

“It was a figure of … never mind, let’s go I’m starving.”

* * * * * * * * * * * *

“I can’t believe this! I mean really?!” Sam knew the instant he heard the shoutting from the room next to his that Dean and Castiel must have run into similar experiences that he and Gabriel had been having around town since they started investigating the deaths. “SAMMY! Open the door!”

“Just a minute,” Sam opened the door between their rooms, sure that Dean was about to start pounding on it. “Bad day?”

“They’re using our aliases, what the hell man? Its one thing for a pair of hunters to get to a job before us, that’s cool with me, ‘bout time we get a break, but who the hell do they think they are using our aliases? I actually had that smartass teenage son of the Warringson family make some comment about how lame the FBI must be if they can’t come up with different ‘names’ for their agents.”

“So do you want to know what we found out or do you want to pack up the car and let whoever else is here take care of this one?” Sam, despite running into similar stuff of what Dean was still ranting about, had managed to get enough information to figure out what was going on.

“Leave? No, I want to find the sons of bitchs who is copying us and talk to them. What did you find?” Dean was focused, like scary homicidal focused, as he stalked over to the table in Sam’s room to look at his laptop screen.

“Gabriel and I found a name and a grave site.”

“Good! That means mister I’m too lazy to think up my own shit will have found that to. I’m going to change then we’re heading to the cemetery.”

“Come on Winchester, I know you’re mad but why go to the cemetery? How about you say we head into town for dinner then make plans to take some time off? Let the Winchester wannabes do all of the work.” Gabriel had remained quiet the whole time Dean had been ranting, but at the mention of spending the night at the cemetery waiting for someone to show up so that the Winchesters can yell at them for stealing their gig, the Trickster angel had to say something. When he and Sam had realized that there were other hunters in town taking care of this job he’d began planning a night of romance for his human, not sitting in that damn car in the cold waiting for some dumb hunters to show up so that he could watch them get their asses kicked by one very pissed off Dean Winchester. “I mean they’re pertaining to be you, isn’t that punishment enough? I say we call it a night, and let them find out the hard way what it means to be a Winchester when some high on themselves demon goes after them thinking they’re you two.”

“Gabriel, let me ask you a question. Let’s say some no name demi god started running around dishing out just desserts to ever ass hat they came across while calling themselves Loki, would you really just call it a night and go grab dinner?” Dean stared at the Archangel waiting for him to think over what had just been said, the look that flashed across Gabriel’s face told the hunter that his point had been made. Without waiting for an answer Dean turned back to his room to change out of his monkey suit.

“Sam change, Cass and I will meet you boys at the cemetery.” Dean heard a snap and a flutter of wings just before his door closed.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

“Dean, maybe we should just let it go. I mean really, Gabe had it right, anyone dumb enough to pick us to pretend to be is going to get enough punishment from the demons and monsters. Do we really need to do anything?” Sam was sitting in the passenger sit of the Impala, watching the cemetery in front of them while trying one more time to calm his brother down. “I don’t see why you and Gabriel are so bent out of shape about this? So they’re using our tricks we don’t know for sure that they’re pretending to be us. For all we know they learned how to hunt from those stupid books of Chuck’s.”

“Yeah that would be perfect, on top of everything else we have to put up with, now we have to deal with jerks thinking that going on a hunting trip is the perfect break from their routine cookie cutter life. Remind me when this is done, and we’ve had some time off to have Gabriel and Cass pay Chuck a visit for us.” Dean was pissed, if Sam asked why he wouldn’t be able to say for sure, all he knew was that he was pissed and wanted to punch these guys around for a bit. The idea of someone out there pretending to be them, using their tricks, the skills their father taught them was part of the problem but the idea that these guys could be getting thanked for what they did, taking credit for the problems they solved because they probably learn it all from those damn books. So, unlike real hunters they didn’t know the art of slipping away when the job was done was what pushed the older Winchester over the top.

Dean had told Sam on the way over to the cemetery some of what had happened when he and Cass went to interview the family. What he’d failed to mention was the fact that he’d learned that the agents that had been there before them had been so sweet that Mrs. Warringson had invited them back for dinner when the case was done. She hated to think of those sweet boys working so hard and living out of a hotel just so people like her family could be safe. Yeah, Dean was pissed and when he found those “sweet boys” he was going to beat the living-

“We found them, south side of the main crypt in the middle of the place.” Gabriel’s voice rang from the back seat, then just has he’d appeared to deliver the news he was gone most likely to keep an eye on their competition and make sure they didn’t leave the party too early. Dean and Sam were out of the car and on the way to where the Archangel was hiding with the fourth member of their group without a word passed between them

“So what have they done?” Sam asked as the brothers came up behind their angels to observe the sight in front of them.

“They just dropped the match into the grave, the ghost showed up for a second but the big one took it out with his shotgun while the other one finished the job; I’ll give them one thing, they are good.” Gabriel almost sounded impressed by the two wannabes in front of them. “Might be that they grew up in this like the two of you.”

“If they grew up in this like us they would have their own list of aliases and not be stealing ours. Let’s go.”

As one the four moved out of the shadows to confront the guys who were just about finished with filling in the grave.

“Alright boys, we have a few questions for you?!” Gabriel yelled; part of the power of his Grace bleeding into his voice, not enough to hurt, but enough to make them listen. The two turned quickly to see who was yelling at them, than … well … the joke about them being fans that learned everything from those damn books was proving partly correct.

“Dean?”

“Sam?”

“Damien?”

“Barnes?”

“Dean, do you know these asshats?”
