Geez, I just wrote hell of a long update, and deleted it by accident -_-. Now I have to start all over again, what a pain in the ass, *sigh *.
My parents came to visit me today, which was really nice. I coaxed them into coming over because I really wanted to have my things I ordered from the German amazon :-P. Yay for new Epica CDs. I also needed my parents to bring some things home that I will need during the summer and that I just know I will have trouble with fitting into my car (e.g., Mephisto’s 20G tank). I also wanted to use the opportunity of my parents coming over to introduce Cody to them and get that out of the way, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. No big deal, I’ll just have to do it next time.
We went to Sudwerk, which is a German restaurant by the Safeway by Pole Line, lol. It was very nice. I haven’t seen my family much this year; I think I've only gone home four times since January. Since March my weekends have had a more important purpose, namely, hang out with the boyfriend :P.
Having my parents over also gave me the chance to address my current #1 stressor: my living situation for next year. As most of you know, I’ll be doing my Masters at Sac State starting next fall, so I’ll have to find a place in Sac. Unfortunately, most apartments are either really out of the way, in really dangerous neighborhoods, or have really bad management (according to online rating websites). I also don’t know whether I want to have roommates/apartment mates. I am aiming to get a 1BR apartment, since this will also give me the option to let Cody move in if our relationship lasts. If things keep going the way they are now, I have no doubts that we will stay together for quite a while (yes, I’m aware that things always look rosiest in the first months of relationships, but I am still very optimistic with this one).
I talked to my parents about the apartment thing and told them that if I get a 1BR I would pay whatever difference in rent will pop up (i.e., they’ll pay whatever they’re willing to, and I’ll pay for the rest). They were really great and seemed okay with it; I’m really lucky to have parents who put such trust in me with big decisions.
Now I just need to find a nice place that seems safe and find a job to make this work, lol. I can’t wait to get new apartment stuff at IKEA ;).
I have two more midterms this quarter, and then I’m free until finals (although I have papers coming up :( ). I’m not particularly worried about the tests, but the annoying thing is that I’ll be in school until 8pm and said day is also Cody’s 23rd birthday. We’ll just have to celebrate late or do it on another day. We’ll see.
I also have a big research paper draft due on Monday and haven’t even started with the research, lol. I am such a slacker. For PSC 151, I’m literally living off of Classical Notes. I haven’t been to that class in weeks (but who can blame me?? It’s from 6-8pm and all the info is in the book!). Oh well, Senioritis…
