There is something that everybody needs to know about me.
/yes I'm that important XD
When I was 13/14 yo, I read The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas. (This came after The Count of Montecristo, and actually, at the time I was a hopeless fan of that book and I thought I would never like another one so much). I could not imagine that I would become obsessed not only with Dumas's books and characters, but with France, modern history, heraldry, genealogy, plotting Catholic cardinals, murderous femmes fatales and everything connected.
Why is this relevant now (a part from the fact they casted Christoph Waltz as Richelieu and I've still contrasting feelings about it)?
One thing I became really interested in is costume history. When I was 14, and 15, and even older, I was obsessed about learning as more as possible about it, basically because I wanted to draw my characters with suitable dresses. XD For a period, I drew incredibily detailed lady with cursets, laces, heraldic symbols...
I own the
Taschen Complete Costume History and
The Illustrated Costume History by John Peacock, plus a number of other books. But it's a long time I didn't look at them anymore. And I was really annoyed recently when, starting with the idea of drawing simple sketches of Cersei Lannister for
valyrian_forged , the best I could do was
this. Which is a very lazy attempt at a contemptuous royal funeral dress for a fantasy/medieval character, and came out as a late 17th/early 18th cheap dress.
Guys, I love costume history, costume dramas and history in general. I like the aesthethics details of it. How is it I can't draw like that anymore?
Some years ago, it wasn't even a problem. It was just fun for me.
I decided to give myself a new goal (as if I hadn't enough on my to do list, comprehensive of driving license and one or two exams =_=).
I wanna find my own style for ASoIaF costumes. I'm not satisfied with the normal medieval look, nor with the series costumes as seen so far. It will only be fun to study my way through serious history notions,
glamourous tv series,
creative Dutch musicals and
totally wrong Japanese manga.
Yes let's not deny it: I'm totally into the Borgias right now. XD Jaime is Cesare, admit it.
Even in the
totally wrong manga.
Because Cesare is hot ._________.
And when Tywin says "oh Cersei, you should marry again" it's a very Rodrigo/Lucrezia moment. XDDD
Tywin: Except I didn't have to kill her husband.
Cersei: I managed that on my own =_=
I think a 14th/15th Italian century style, once fantasized, could be what I'm looking for. What do you think, asoiaf readers?
