The Eighth Dream - action

Apr 12, 2011 02:19

[Vivi has simply not been able to cope with her dear mother being sent home. It's just too much. First, she died, and now she's simply gone... a small girl can only cope with so much. The "v-girl" has taken over quite a few times, when the pain becomes unbearable... and tonight is one of those times ( Read more... )

((Hope this is okay - they haven't really talked yet and they should.))

[Donatello is also dreaming of flying tonight. Not so surprising, since he's spent the week building hang-gliders and may or may not have fallen asleep at his work. Unlike Vivi, however, he flies surrounded by a flock of esoteric mathematical equations, with which he is carrying on animated conversation.]

[You now have an opportunity to interrogate the subconscious mind of the turtle who does not want to be your father. Take shameless advantage?]

[Now this is an odd one. Flying is normal, but doing so while chattering with formulas and equations is not. She knows vaguely how he feels about her... it doesn't seem right. Any friend of Robert's should be nicer than that.]

[Vivi suddenly becomes a square-root sign with two eye-dots hovering above the v-shaped part, then flies over to hide in the other math. Let's see what he says first.]

- so if you would just compromise on the weight-ratio rules I'm sure I could achieve low-Luceti orbit. [He listens to an indistinct chittering from the numbers.] You're sure you won't change your mind? ... No, I couldn't...

[Suddenly, the math speaks back clearly!]

You're not gonna orbit anywhere with that barrier in place, hee hee.

[...and it might sound like Vivi for some odd reason. Hmm, I wonder why. :|a]

But I could break the barrier if only -- if only -- [He looks more closely at that misplaced square root sign.] You don't balance.

Maybe you're doing the math wrong. [Sneaking away into a different part of the equations while she speaks.] I'm very balanced! Anyway, what about the barrier?

If only there was more ground up here. [He folds his glider and stands on nothing.]

[More ground? Don't look down, Don; a bunch of land from somewhere below is suddenly rising up to meet your needs.]

What's the next step? Make sure to show your work, hee hee.

[Don's feet touch down gently, and he immediately kneels to draw in the dirt. His picture is of a missile, primed and ready to launch. Can Vivi's dream-powers make it real for him?]

[They sure can!]

[...Except that the missile looks almost exactly like a 3D representation of his scribble. It'll work, sure, but it won't look pretty.]

[Vivi's admiring(?) it nonetheless.]

[And Don launches the missile.]

[It goes up, up, and then there is a tinkling like the breaking of a tiny glass, and myriad fragments of pure light shower down around them.]

Our science is better than their science, hee hee! [This is all so very exciting that square-root-Vivi can't help but fly around, looking at everything. Especially whatever just broke.]

[Don catches the light in his hands and studies it closely.]

Just as I thought.
