A second day in Iceland

Apr 07, 2010 21:43

There was plenty of snow on the ground and the winds were incredibly strong making it feel much colder!! But unlike Britain Reykjavik is used to snow and the roads were all clear by 9.30 and life was carrying on as normal. We walked up to "The Pearl" at the top of a hill where we had absolutely amazing views, and were nearly blown off our feet! Luckily there was also a cafe serving hot coffee and muffins were we could revive ourselves afterwards! We also visited the Saga Museum there before heading down into town where we had lunch, did a bit of shopping and visited the harbour and inland pond where there was a multitude of ducks, geese and swans.

After a brief time back at the hotel we headed out to Laugadavur Pool (about ten minutes from the hotel) where I mostly stayed in the hot pot, a lovely warm thermally heated pool, but Matthew and Chris both tried out the water slide and swam in the big outdoor pool for a while. The bigger pool was also heated but felt cold compared to the hot pot!!

We finished off our day with a meal at the local steak restaurant.

Here are some photos of our day:
