Oooh, some yummy Mal/Inara goodness with just a pinch of pain mixed in! I enjoyed this fic a lot, I could really feel the intensity between them, loved it! My favorite part, though, was Inara painting the name back on the ship and including all their names into it. That was a beautiful touch, just perfect!

I like how you tied it in to the end of the movie, gave extra meaning to 'I don't know'

And the awkwardness after, Mal trying to come to terms with this new 'verse... all very believable

I liked Inara's disjointed memory of the battle, how she focused on different things than she could have, or thought maybe she should have... how she takes up the tasks that she can do, when others are doing the ones she can't...
