just get back up when it knocks you down

My credit card bill of $850 is due March 1st and I currently have $550 sitting in my chequings. Fuck.

I started thinking about the conversation I would soon have to have with my mother asking her to lend me the rest so I could avoid a shitty credit rating when I remembered that I have $700 in my savings. Which saves me for the time being, even though I hate taking money out of my savings so much.

Still, I am broke, and am now shifting into super-saving mode. More sleep instead of more Starbucks! More choking down of dining hall food instead of sushi take-out! More walking across the street to the cafe where purchases are covered by my meal plan instead of buying things from the vending machine in the basement! (Yes I am that lazy. Come on, it's winter, you know how fucking annoying it is to have to strap yourself into boots (mine LACE UP! it takes forever), wrap yourself in a scarf, put on a jacket and gloves and etc all for some stupid 2 minute trip? The answer is very. Leave me alone.)

I get paid tomorrow, thankfully, though it'll only be barely over $100, because I haven't been working many shifts lately. Not on purpose - I'm either scheduled for just one, or I have to take one off because of conflicting plans. I'm not completely broke, but I'm acting like it, because it can't hurt trying to save all the extra cash I can. Especially since I'm quitting Delta soon. And it's a great test in willpower. You know how much the Starbucks cups carried by everyone on campus pull at me? Oh God it's ridiculous and probably a little pathetic.

Anyway! I went on a cruise in the Caribbean for reading week and it was nice and relaxing and refreshing. So nice to get away from school and the city and the cold. I got pretty badly sunburned in Antigua because it was cloudy and I'm an idiot (who needs sunscreen? I have porcelain Russian skin to protect me), so now I'm peeling and just generally looking awesome. I never get nice tans, ever. I either get ridiculous tan lines, or splotchiness, or just... crispy. Ew.

But yeah, we saw some sweet islands and ate a LOT of food and tricked the assistant waiter at dinner into thinking I was 21 so I got served wine with my parents haha.

And now I have to get my ass moving to catch up with readings. I did a report for my Law class over the break, but not much reading besides that and my bulletin board is filled with post-its. Oh man! I don't think I've ever put up a picture of my awesome organizational skills, have I?

A guy on my floor last year, Rene (actually it was probably his girlfriend), came up with the idea, and it spread across the floor because everyone who sees it thinks it's the coolest idea ever, though everyone incorporates it in a slightly different way. Mine is a different post-it for every reading, or section of an assignment, per class. Colour coded because I'm a girl and stuff. It's a great visual of how much shit you have to do, including what class needs the most attention, and a great form of a checklist. Don't know what I'm going to do without the giant bulletin board in my room next year haha.

Okay I'm off to work. Payce.

P.S. I don't care what music I normally listen to, this song is bomb.
