Film Remakes? Sequels? Books into Movies?

I will go to see burn after reading sometime soon if you want to come along, not friday night‘cause there’s a KR show or sat. night ‘cause there‘s a housewarming party.

Choke comes out around the 26th, although that looks questionable. Apparently, good ol’ chuck was ok with sam rockwell and clark gregg, and I’m sure if it’s ok for him it’s ok. probably just ok.

What really scares me are all the remakes. I’m sure this comment could fall under a blog marked OBVIOUS, but remakes are usually crummy and unnecessary.

Notable among re-dos are those films that follow the same script, but decades later in order to modernize it or make a buck. See The Omen or Psycho.

A remake of The Man Who Fell To Earth with David Bowie is scheduled.
Of course, new technology can be both good and bad (CGI can make me cry)

I personally want to know what good remakes there have been?
What comes to mind?

What about foreign films redone for English audiences?

Also….

Are there any sequels you would say are better than the originals?

Finally, any film versions of books you prefer to the book? (not including porn)
