I just want to say a few things about the ATO fire -
Will Townsend was a wonderful guy. I'm really priviledged to have known him, and this whole campus will miss him. Whether you knew him or not, he had an impact on your life, because his warm, boisterous personality put everyone around him in a good mood. You just couldn't be in a bad mood around him. We were never close friends or anything, but I'm proud to say that I knew him and am rejoicing that he is in heaven as I'm writing this. I didn't know the other two guys, but I pray for all their families and friends, that God will give them peace and comfort.
The sermon at Christ Pres really comforted me this morning. In God's sovereignty, the sermon today was from John 11 - Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. Three things that really stood out from the sermon that I hope will help you like it helped me:
1. Christ was fully man, as much as we are. He felt emotions like we do.
2. We can cast our cares on Christ because He cares for us. He knew that He would raise Lazarus from the dead, but he cried because of the agony that sin and death give His people. He really does care about our feelings because He has them too.
3. DEATH CANNOT HOLD GOD'S CHILDREN. Death has no power over God - He is the one who decided when and how we live and die, and there is a purpose in every death just as there is a purpose in every life.
If you don't know where to turn right now, PLEASE talk to me or a campus minister. God is the only one who can heal your hurting right now. I know He is the only one who can comfort me.
