Capdevila Legacy - 2.1

After what it seemed to be an eternity of spinning inside the time machine, it finally crashed. Luckily, Cat had built a good, strong machine, so neither of them were injured. However, the machine turned to scrap the moment they tried to restart it to get back home. Both Cat and Elena tried to fix it while Inés kept shouting at them, especially at Elena. All she could think about was about her new boss, who would be so angry at her for missing her first day at work.
But they didn't have enough equipment to fix it, so they just walked away from it, hoping they didn't land too far from home. Sadly...they did.

One look around, that was all that it took for all of them to realize their biggest fear would come true: they'd never be able to go home again. Ever.

The swamps, the river, the mud, the bugs, the pollution, the ruins. None of them were familiar enough.
Cat even feared they landed in some kind of post-apocalyptic world far from their timeline. She wasn't even sure she would be able to build another machine. She didn't even recall how to build one, anyway.
So they walked away from the ruins of the machine, that last thing that connected them home, back in Barnacle Bay.

Eventually they stumbled into a tiny house, which was filled of roaches and mosquitos.

Elena was completely confused. She had hit her head when the machine crashed, and just looked around completely confused, hoping she'd wake up sometime soon. Cat was just happy she found a place to stay.

Inés was still unable to show emotion. But deep inside, she was scared, and hated Elena even more. It was her fault, after all.

Cat and Elena saw a taxi passing by. They took it and asked the driver where they were. With a confused look in his face, he told them they were in Twinbrook, a city that was once famous for being one of the largest industrial centers in the world. And they were in the swamps sector.

They were still too shocked and dizzy from the trip they weren't able to say a word. They stopped by one of the junkyards, as Cat needed to gather some more scrap to get them out of there. Elena went somewhere else, she just had to see it for herself.

As Cat was looking for scrap, she was panicking more and more: Twinbrook?! All she could recall was that it was on the opposite side of the world. She was relieved they didn't land in another time, but they'd never be able to return home. At least not in time to get all of their hard-earned belongings back.

Meantime, Inés received a visit from one of the neighbours. His name was Skeet and he seemed to be very interested in her, and how suddenly she appeared there without any kind of explanation.

It was all laughs and flirts until she noticed the ring in his left hand.

They all reunited in their new home and told each other their findings. And knowing they wouldn't be back home in a long time, they rushed to find jobs. Cat was considered too old to get back to the ghost-hunting career, so she signed as a self-employed inventor.

Elena was so sad about losing Edmund and her old life, she couldn't take it at first, so she just played with random kids she met.

Cat wasn't willing to give up, so she spent most of the first evening at the junkyard, causing explosions all over.

There was only one double bed in the house so Inés just got an old mattress from the junkyard and slept outside. She just wanted to stay away from Elena.

The first day at work wasn't so bad for Elena. Afterwards, she went to the gym so she could earn a raise and maybe some paid vacations. Then she met this guy.

He was so cute and made her laugh when he told her she was stunning. But he had a problem: he wasn't Edmund.
She tried to flirt back but felt she was cheating on her man.

Then she just went to run angrily, thinking about Edmund. How was he? What was he doing? Would he show up looking for her? She'd like to think he and Margarita would build another machine and look for them, or that he'd travel around the world looking for her. She shook her head: it took her way too long to make him love her. Their love wasn't that strong to begin with. So why on Earth would he bother to look for her? Especially because as far as Edmund knew, she could be anywhere in the universe.

Completely defeated and hopeless, she started to cry quietly. Her heartbreak was just too much to take.

One guy saw her crying and asked her if she was alright. His name was Buddy.
They were just talking as Elena was trying so hard not to cry again.

Buddy was feeling so lucky, a gorgeous girl was finally talking to him!

He didn't run away when she started talking about all she wanted was to fall in love again.

Back home, Cat was having trouble again with her inventions, burning herself with the most basic ones.

So when Elena got back home, she just laughed.

Inés had a creepy habit: staring at Elena while she slept.

...while looking like she'd stand up and choke her with a pillow.

The next day, Elena stalked....err found Buddy swimming in the graveyard (?)

Well, he just liked odd places to swim. And she did, as well.

He also had a strange look while looking around at the cemetery.

She listened to him patiently as he kept boesting about fishing and how good he was at it.

She also opened up to him and started talking about how much she loved her mother.

Days passed by, and it was the same routine: they all went to work, then head back home, eat, sleep, do it over.

Elena became friends with Marc Brandt, a coworker.

She used to spend lots of time at his place, sharing gossips about the military base.

And he was also single, lucky her!

When he fell asleep, she started to drink, in a desperate effort to take Edmund out of her head and heart.
She just couldn't stop thinking about her would-be life with Edmund:

The way she'd look at him in his traditional suit...

...Their lovely wedding at the beach, at sunset...

...the dinner with all the family...

...the way Inés would stay away from it...

...how she'd cry over her father's death...

...their times together....

....over and over...

...like a modern fairytale...which she ruined by letting her hate towards Inés get out of control.

She spent that night in Marc's place. While he slept she worked out so hard, and decided to move on. Edmund wouldn't come back to her.

So she focused on Marc: they spent the next morning together getting to know eachother.

He seemed like a sensitive guy, even if his tattoos would tell otherwise. There was something about him...

He was kind enough to let her practically live there and use his computer to stalk on Edmund...I mean, research her old city.
She desisted from going back to Barnacle Bay when she found out he married someone else and kept all of her family's money.

She was so angry she ran back home.

Cat had been focused on fixing her relationship to Inés.

Until Elena crashed the moment by mocking her sister.

Old habits die hard, you know.

Then they started fighting again, letting all their rage get out. And as usual, Elena won.

Inés finally realized it wouldn't get any better home, so she moved out immediately.

She didn't care it was midnight, she just HAD to end it.

Will Inés live better outside the household? Will Elena move on? Stay tuned!
