Sent in writer applications to The DCist and cokemachineglow. The DCist sounds interested at least - and I'll find out more after July 4th. CMG will likely laugh in my face (I don't know, I just get that vibe from them) but it's worth a shot since they are advertising that they're looking for writers. Neither of these are paying gigs - but I figure if I can get clips with either or both - those can lead to paying gigs. Apparently Reid will be happy if the DCist thing works out - and since he's leaving Paste and he and Tim's wife both have high positions at lower profile music magazines - maybe I can find some early luck there - eventually. Just something to pay for the concert addiction. Although I'm not too stupid about the addiction - I'm skipping out on both Polyphonic Spree and Morrissey b/c I'm not paying $30 for bands that I know very little about. Yes, it's true, I know very little of the Morrissey catalog. Bad Val.
