I love this question, because I'm such a traveler at heart. There are so many places I want to go and see. Travelling, at least for me, gives you an opportunity to expand your mind and your experiences. Two things control this list, my love for gorgeous landscapes and my love for history. It was kind of difficult narrowing it down, actually. But here are the ones who, when I'm financially capable, will be first.
I've wanted to go to London since I was a little kid. My maternal grandparents were from England, and I've had this overwhelming desire to connect with that part of my heritage. Add to that my years as an English major emphasis in British Lit, and my life would be a complete failure if I never made it out to London. There is so much I want to explore, form the old buildings and historical sites, to the graves of all my favorite authors and historical figures.
2. Alaska
I doubt I need to say more than look at this picture.
3. Italy.
History? Check. Beautiful sights? For sure. I did mention somewhere how much I love old buildings, right?
4. Redwood & Yosemite National Parks
Out of everything on the list, this is the one that is most likely to be accomplished sometime in the next few years. I've been to Muir Woods,(near San Francisco) and don't get me wrong, it's positive gorgeous, but I'm ready to graduate to the Redwoods. I have a deep rooted love for forests. There's this presence about them, and this peace. I couldn't imagine living out my whole life and never getting to experience such an old and gigantic forest.
5. Maine
I have absolutely no desire to return to the east coast. (Granted, this has less to do with desire and more to do with avoiding my past. I'd love to go to Washington D.C., but you won't see me go anywhere near New York again.) But Maine is the exception. I have a thing with lighthouses, and coastlines, and the ocean. Maine just seems like a beautiful place.
6. Hawaii
Up until recently, I didn't actually have a desire to go to Hawaii. But um, it's beautiful. Those clear oceans, the green trees, the strangely interesting volcanic activity-- it's ensnaring my attention. It might not be high on my list of places to go see, but I figure you can't go wrong with tropical weather.
7. Seattle (and the Cascade Mountains)
Part of me thinks I want to make Seattle (or somewhere in Oregon) a permanent residence in the future. But of course I've never actually been to either place, which is sad because I've been everywhere else out west it seems. And I chose this picture specifically, because I want to emphasize how I want the green forest, the ocean, and the mountains. Yes, I'm greedy like that.
8. Oregon
Ditto above. Except I hear Oregon has a lower cost of living. I'm not sure how I feel about big cities, either. So Oregon has a higher chance of love than Seattle. Rain! Green things! Oregon and I would get along.
9. Ireland & Scotland
Um, picture. Words are unnecessary.
10. Paris
I scrounged the internet looking for this specific picture. Gargoyles, guys! I love them. :) Also, I want to visit France. I did take ten years of French, after all. I should probably figure out a way to use it. And besides that, here's another case of history! old buildings! super awesome museums!
Bonus Round Canada, Germany, Vienna, Spain, the Netherlands, Russia. Everywhere. So, anyone been to anyone been to any of these places? Want to share your experiences? Do you recommend going? What are the places you want to go? I have all the questions today, guys.
