Ranting because I'm ticked off already this morning

I should have known better than to try and say something with actual thought behind it on the poto.com forum. It's just that I finally read Phantom by Susan Kay and I saw something someone wrote about it there and I wanted to reply. Here is what I said:

As for Erik sending away the young girl... I definitely don't see it as Erik being a good person. He knew what would happen to the girl if she went back. He would have let her go free if she spent one night with him but he was so insulted by the fact she would rather be sent back and die than spend one night with him so he let her do just that... be returned and put to death.

Not even 10 minutes later I was accused of suggesting it would have made him a good person if he raped the girl instead.

*sigh*

Seriously people... R-E-A-D then T-H-I-N-K before you reply to someone's comment, especially when the comment goes against your whole mentality of omg-erik-is-so-tragic-and-dark-but-so-loving-and-hot (because I know the ones that flip out are big fans of the crappy 2004 movie.) This wouldn't bother me if it was over anything else, but to insinuate something so revolting about me... I found it highly offensive.

Of course after I replied requesting for words not to be put in my mouth I got the typical, "I guess I wasn't clear enough, blah blah blah, sorry for the misunderstanding, blah blah blah."

I let it go, of course, and we went on for a few more posts to explain our differing opinions and when it became clear to her she wasn't going to change mine I got the typical, "Said what I can, didn't mean to start an argument, if you still have the same opinion I won't try to change it, blah... blah... freaking blah." Um... can we say "debate"? Why the hell are people so damn sensitive? Argument? I never said a single negative thing about her.. hell, I never even used a single exclamation point. Why can't two people take a little time to make their opinions clear to one another without feeling the need to change the other's opinion?

Oh well, I guess I asked for it. I dared to post something that would put the Almighty Erik in a negative light on the poto.com board which is sadly overrun with movie fans. That damn thing has ruined the Phantom fandom and taken a lot of the fun out of it.
