People treat you so much differently when you're with a girl. One guy even cleared out the sidewalk and made the 'right this way' gesture when my counterpart and I walked by and said something to the effect of "Hey man, you got a beautiful girl on that phone I hope she doesn't keep you waiting." So either people are nicer when you're with a girl, at least an attractive one, or I just didn't smell that bad today. It was strange to notice such a dramatic change in how complete strangers act towards me when I'm so used to be heckled and called a names, which did happen as well, except this time by a very short, thugged out gay woman who felt compelled to inform me that I look "like a fag". Apparently her gaydar caught something that nobody else's did. Furthermore, it's alarming to see that my usual foe, non-subculural hetero, white males, acted more favorably towards me than 4'10" lesbian hip hop fans, a demographic that I usually interact with somewhat positively. I was, however, comforted to know that my female friend and I had the approval of the man who wrote the song "Only the Good Die Young". We ran into him on the street today as he was trying to raise money because his "diabetes was fucking his shit." I didn't want to say anything to him at the time but I'm not sure how much money he'll be able to fit into his paper cup or how secure it will be. Maybe he should invest in a lock box. I was also pleased to hear that he continues to be a songwriter but writes primarily for a female audience because he has discovered "that's how you get them to fuck." On the other hand, I was not so pleased when he asked my friend to marry him. Luckily, I managed to drag her away before he could start singing to her and I'd lose her forever along with the red carpet treatment she provides me.
