2010...a new decade?
Is it just me that doesn't get it? A decade is supposed to be a period of TEN years, right? Then why, oh why, is everyone saying that 2010 is the start of a NEW decade? Shouldn't this be the END of the current decade? Call me crazy, but that seems to make more sense to me... Shouldn't 2011 be the start of a new decade (2011 - 2021)? The same thing goes for the "new" millennium...shouldn't that have been 2001, not 2000? A millennium is a thousand years, right? There's just so much confusion, that it makes my brain hurt...
