Alters #5: Diesel Sweeties

This was the hardest one to do in this series so far. It's tough to draw in someone else's style! Especially one as necessarily precise and formalized as this one.

And as static. In my drawings, people are always doing something. Take another look at the superhero bathrooms cartoon. It is a simple one-line joke about capes. But Doom is adjusting his belt, Batman is glaring at him, Supergirl is rolling her eyes at them, Wonder Woman and Spiderman are talking, and Namor is picking his teeth. I can't stand to have people just sitting around. (Sometimes I worry that that takes away from the clarity of the joke.) Whereas Diesel Sweeties is almost entirely talking heads standing around with their arms going straight down from their shoulders. You'll notice where I failed to be able to make myself do that! There were even more slight movements that I ended up deleting.

I originally wasn't going to change the shapes of the robots, but then I realized that they - the ones I used, at least - do have masculine signifiers. Square jaws, broad shoulders, tall, etc. So I decided to see if I could make them signal feminine without using the standard eyelashes & lipstick shorthand. Uncle Grandpa, of course, is just a Mac, so I didn't need to make any changes there.
