We found Malik over Gustav. He was abandoned and positive for feline leukemia, but Jim took him in and we brought him back to health. He was a really terrific kitten. I'm really broken up that he is gone, but I am glad he was with us for his one year here. He was put to sleep yesterday morning. As upset as that makes me, it truly was the only responsible and humane choice. Neil said that he thinks he probably came and went when he did for a purpose. I know it sounds awfully cliche, but I'm determined to remember him and for that memory to help me understand that even in an eternal life, moments are impermanent, and to be a more loving and compassionate person in each moment.
May almighty Thoth write your Name forever in the Book of Life,
May gentle Anubis guide you through the next world,
And, sharing secrets known only to your Kind,
May gracious Bastet lovingly accept you into Her eternal kingdom.
I hope I get to see you again the next time you come around.
Peace,
Rhys
