Introspection

Estelle isn’t the type of person who would lay down and die so easily, but being easily influenced by those she trusts, when Phaeroh had told her why she was a poison to the world, she would have easily given her life to save the world in which she loves. Yuri had said before (regarding Judith and if she had possibly betrayed them), that if a part is infected, then you cut it off to save the whole, implying that he would have no problem with killing her if she had truly betrayed them and is hurting people. I believe Estelle took those words to heart, and when she heard Phaeroh calling her a poison, then saying those exact words to her, it was settled, right? Surely everyone would agree that Estelle’s death would save the world. She’s one person, and the world is more than her.

The more and more Phaeroh went on, the more and more she was convinced that surely her existence was simply a nuisance. Yet Yuri and Judith kept on fighting for her cause. She was touched by their arguments, but they should agree that her death would solve so much! She was an infected part of a whole! Yuri even said himself that if a part is infected, you cut it off to save the whole, right? Why is he arguing for her life? At least she took some comfort in knowing that Judith would be willing to kill her if push comes to shove.

“’It’s okay if I have to die’? What the hell was that?”

“…I’m sorry.”

“I don’t want to hear that again.”

“I’m sorry…”

Now, we don’t see terribly much after that, but I imagine Estelle is utterly confused by this point, yet part of her can now take comfort in Yuri and feel absolutely safe with him. Same with Judith, but she feels a different comfort in that she knows Judith will end her life if Estelle’s power puts their world to its absolute limit. Surely, they could find another way, right? If they were so keen on keeping her alive, then there was no need to fight them.

In Myorzo, she learns the true story behind her power, that her people had sacrificed themselves to save the world. Maybe it finally it her the absolute destruction of her power, how much the entelexeia want her dead. Given that she lives in her optimistic fantasy world most of the time, she can be rather oblivious to how serious some things really are, and that includes her own power. That because of the imbalance of Aer that she is causing, the world is dying. It was in this time of confusion that it was easiest to take advantage of her, and caused her to be easily kidnapped.

Though she had to admit she was happy that they were coming to actually save her. Then again, she was being used as a weapon. If they didn’t do that, then who knows what kind of destruction she could cause. She had already hurt them once, and she didn’t want to hurt them again. After a second attempt to save her, and her power was still bringing harm to them, there was only one option: death. She made sure Yuri heard her words, after all, she believed her own words that she had said to him after she found out about his vigilante acts - “If you turn your blade against me, then I will have done something to deserve it.” Most certainly she deserved it now. His mind should be made up, right? As well as Judith’s. Look at what she did to Zaphias! Her power went so out of control that she practically destroyed it. And who knows what else her power could do. If it was that destructive, then it was best that she be killed. It was okay. She accepted her fate.

And then they came back a second time, and she was under Alexei’s complete control now. It was useless. Completely useless. And she was hurting them again. No, she could no longer control herself now, yet her stubborn determination took over long enough to say one thing - “Please, before I can hurt anyone else… please… kill me…” Pleading, begging… no more, please, no more!

Yuri’s response that he would set her free probably brought a sense of comfort to her. He was going to kill her, right? That was the only way to set her free at this point.

I bring in the secret mission at this point, back to Mantaic when Yuri and Estelle discussed her mother’s memento.

“The time will come when you’re going to need it. You’re going to want to reevaluate who you are. You’ll need it to remind yourself who you were, and how far you’ve come. You don’t want to make any rash decisions now that you’ll regret later.”

“If I lose sight of where I’m going, I may have to fall back on it.”

She had lost sight of who she was, hasn’t she? But it was too late. It was far too late…at least that was what she had thought.

It was that moment that made her realize what wonderful friends she had. They could have taken the easy route and simply killed her. The problem would then be solved, right? But instead, they saved her. They saved her. Not because she was the Princess named Estellise, not because she had the power to heal them, no, because she was their friend, Estelle. She was their friend…

Their dear friend…needless to say that touched her in more ways than one and led her to have an undying faith in them. Her friends. Real friends.

Yes…they were and are and forever will be her friends…and she will do everything she can to support them, to be there for them, to care for them, because after all, that was what they had done for her. Yes… while she loved her friends so much, that moment did something to make her realize just how much they cared for her, and possibly the true meaning of friendship and not some dictionary definition or what friendships she had read in books.

She really was grateful to know them!
