( ooc ; the story of bella swan. part II ; new moon )

Oct 22, 2009 20:45

The months passed, and her senior year was upon her.

Her eighteenth birthday came and went … a horrific birthday party being held at the Cullen's beautiful home. The party had started out all right, yet when her clumsy side kicked in and she received a paper cut. Only a single drop of blood had fallen out of her pale finger, yet it was still one drop too much.

Jasper had lunged at her then, his need for blood too strong for him to handle. Edward had tackled her then, shoving her out of the way of the blood drunk Jasper, sending her crashing through a glass table. In hopes of protecting herself, Bella had shoved her hands out … only to land on the shards of broken glass. Blood seeped out of the large cut that was currently reaching from her wrist to her elbow on her right arm, and, much to her horror, the rest of the family was staring at the blood with dark eyes.

Carlisle had been the only one to stay calm, instructing the rest of the family to either get out, or help him take her into the kitchen as so he could fix the large cut that made it's way up her arm. As it turned out, she needed stitches … which she was not too thrilled with. During that entire time, Edward had been a complete and total mess, having to leave the room because her blood had been too much for him.

She didn't blame him.

A few nights later, her world came crashing down.

Edward had taken her into the forest … for a walk, as he had called it. And it was here that he proceeded to take her heart and slash it into a thousand pieces.

He told her that his feelings for her had been a farce. Nothing more than fake emotions. It had been a game, his feelings for her. Unbelieving, she had pleaded for him to stop … that it wasn't funny anymore. And then he told her that he was leaving.

The world wobbled in front of her eyes then, and he told her calmly that he would never see her again - it had been a promise. He swore that she would never have to even think about him again … that he would completely erase his entire existence from her life. Heartbroken, she watched as he began to walk away … and she cried, running after him. He suddenly grabbed her wrists then, slamming them to her sides … and gently leaned to kiss her forehead.

"Take care of yourself."

And in an instant, he was gone. Leaving her alone in the woods at night, rain pouring down on her body.

She tried to walk … tried to find her way out of the forest … yet at one point, she tripped over something and fell to the ground. She didn't remember this, too overcome with despair and agony. She was then found by a man she didn't recognize ... cold, alone, shaking. He took her home, and it was here that she quickly raced up into her bedroom.

For her birthday, Edward had given her a CD of a song he had written just for her … a lullaby. He also gave her some pictures, which she quickly put into a scrapbook.

Yet upon reaching her room, she found these all gone. The CD was gone, as well as the pictures, their blank space left in the scrapbook as if to mock her.

She had fallen to the floor then, despair overcoming her in such deep waves that she couldn't pull up. And she accepted the agony with open arms.

October passed.

Then November.

Then December.

And in January, she finally awoke out of her despair.

It had been hard, of course. That ache was still there, no matter how hard she tried to ignore it. School days came and went, Edward's absence leaving a heavy strain on her body and mind. She slowly began to move away from her old friends, and instead found the comfort of Jacob Black, the one whom had tipped her off to the whole vampire thing way back when she was first only falling in love.

Oh, how she hated him for being responsible for her learning about the Cullens and what they really were.

And yet she found out that she couldn't hate him, no matter how hard she tried.

The two spent more time together, and he was the first one to actually make her laugh after the months of being cold and silent.

And then, one day, he changed.

Jacob decided that he didn't want to talk to her anymore. Confused and hurt, Bella continued to try and contact her old friend, wanting to know what was up and why he was acting such a way. She was only met with silences and answering machines, never once gaining back a message, or even a simple word that the boy was okay.

It was around this time when Bella found out that a female vampire was looking for her.

Better yet, she wanted Bella dead.

As it turned out, the female vampire, Victoria, had been in love with James. Hungry for revenge, the female vampire made a promise to hunt down and kill Bella for having James killed.

It was also around this time when Bella realized that if she did dangerous things, Edward's voice would fill her head, cautioning her about certain things. During one trip to the city at night, Bella had followed a couple of men alone. Edward's voice had filled her head almost immediately, and so she acted on these impulses, only so she could get a chance of hearing his voice in her head.

After her "dangerous" days, Jacob suddenly appears at her house. Overjoyed yet still a bit hurt for having been ignored, he tells her that he is sorry. He then basically tells her that he has a new group of friends, whom never leave each other alone, and do all kinds of things together. When Bella asks if she can join, she is quickly told no, and with that said, Jacob leaves.

After much investigation and following of Jacob and his new group of friends, the horrifying truth is shown.

"Do you remember when I told you about that tale with the werewolves and the cold ones?"
"Yes ..?"
"…"

Jacob was a werewolf.

As were all of his other friends.

It made sense to Bella then. The way Jacob came to hate Edward so much, or how whenever she spoke of Jacob to Edward, he would become angry and snappy, constantly telling her not to talk to the younger boy.

It was one day, after a trip into the woods, when Bella heard of cliff jumping.

It looked fun, to see someone jump off a cliff and into the lake below.

And of course, being that this was indeed a rather dangerous stunt, she decided to try it on her own.

Without anyone watching.

Jumping into the water had been a blast, but she had not thought about was how cold the water was, or how hard the impact would have been.

Suddenly finding herself too weak to swim to the surface, she calmly accepts the fact that she is going to die (again.) and hears Edward's voice pleading for her to swim to the top.

"Goodbye, my love."

Suddenly, the darkness is gone. The choking water replaced by strong hands pulling her to the shore close by. Jacob's worried face filled her vision, and she soon passed out, brought home soon after.

But, at home, a certain visitor came calling.

At first, she thought it was Victoria, finally coming to kill her once and for all. But upon further investigation, the guest turned out to be none other than Alice Cullen, Edward's sister.

Overjoyed and relieved, she quickly threw herself at the female vampire, hugging her closely as she bawled her eyes out. After a few seconds of bliss, Alice then asks Bella a rather odd question.

"Would you like to explain to me how you're alive?"

Huh?

As it turned out, Alice had had a premonition of Bella jumping off of the cliff and into the water.

Yet that was where the vision had stopped.

Soon, Alice launched into question after question, berating Bella that it was a stupid idea to try and commit suicide -

And this thought made Bella stare in shock.

"Alice, I wasn't committing suicide!"

After much explaining, Alice decided to stay the night so Bella could continue to explain - but suddenly, Jacob Black appeared at her house.

The boy seemed angry, having smelled Alice on her. Cautious, Bella tried to calm her old friend down … when he suddenly tried to kiss her. Shoving him away out of shock, she was soon shot out of it when the phone rang, Jacob suddenly picking it up.

"Swan Residence."
More talking.
" … He's not here."
Talking.
"He's at a funeral."
And then the phone was slammed down.
"Filthy Bloodsucker."

Horror filled Bella as she stared at her old friend, and she quickly began to scream at him. Who was he to pick up her phone? In her own home? With her so close by?!

As it turned out, the man on the phone had been none other than Carlisle Cullen.

It was around that time that Alice had come down the stairs, and a staring/snarling match took place. Groaning and obviously not in the mood for this, Alice reached into her pocket and took out a small silver cell phone. Dialing an unknown number, the girl soon began to talk to Rosalie. The conversation couldn't have been worse.

Rosalie had told Edward about Bella jumping off the cliff. And, in his horror, Edward had been the one to call her house … posing as Carlisle.

And Jacob had told Edward that Charlie had gone to a funeral.

Edward had thought that the funeral was for Bella.

Screaming at Jacob now, Bella didn't even notice when Alice suddenly sank to the floor.

"Don't worry, Alice. Everything will be straightened out when Edward calls again."
"Bella, Edward won't be calling again. He believed Rosalie."
"I. Don't. Understand."
" … He's going to Italy."

It was then that Bella faintly recalled something Edward had said to her on the night of her eighteenth birthday.

"Well, I wasn't going to live without you. I wasn't sure how to do it (kill myself.) … I knew Emmett and Jasper would never help … so I was thinking of going to Italy and do something to provoke the Volturi. You don't irritate them. Not unless you want to die."

The Volturi were the most powerful vampire family that ever existed. Messing with them meant …

The sudden realization sent Bella into hysterics; sobbing and screaming, tears spilling down her eyes. She knew what had to be done … there had to be some way to get to Edward before he did the unthinkable. Quickly deciding that they would go to Italy and stop Edward face to face, Bella tried to make her way outside, only to be stopped by Jacob.

The boy tried to reason with her, to tell her not to go. But, of course, Bella wasn't having any of that. Giving her old friend a quick hug and a small kiss to his palm, she was out the door and on her way to the airport, Alice close behind.

The plane ride to Italy had been pure torture, being trapped in such a small space for such a long time. For all they know, Edward was dead. It nearly drove Bella insane with worry.

Finally reaching Volterra, the two were overcome with dread. What if Bella couldn't stop Edward? What if the Volturi went ahead and killed them all without a single word? These things were not good.

After Alice stole a car (one that went plus 100 MPH. Alice was thrilled!) Bella was driven as close by to Edward as possible. Practically leaping out of the car the moment it had stopped, she began to sprint towards the place where Alice said Edward would be; in front of a large clock tower, about to step into the sunlight.

Sadly, hundreds of people were also near the clock tower. Shoving her way through the crowd, Bella continued to scream Edward's name, in hopes of him seeing her. When she was finally close enough to see him, he appeared to look as if in a trance … his face carefully apathetic, hands clasped into tight fists at his side. He stood only a few inches away from the bright sunlight, his entire body currently concealed by dark shadows. Running the rest of the way towards her love, Bella screamed out Edward's name and slammed into him, in hopes of shoving him away from the light. Sadly, Edward was so out of it he thought that Bella was actually his imagination, his own kind of hell. His hands came close to her face, petting her hair and cheek, his lips whispering something about already being dead.

"No, Edward! We're not dead! Not yet! We have to get out of here before the Volturi -!"

As if realizing how deep they already were, Edward spun Bella around and away from the sunlight, his body protecting her against the wall as two men in cloaks walked towards them.

These two men were, of course, from the Volturi family. The two men moved closer in silence, and were about to speak when suddenly Alice came dancing out of nowhere, stopping a few feet in front of the two lovers. Then, as if to make things even, another small figure made her way towards the Volturi boys. This person was small and frail, with cropped hair and large eyes. At first, Bella thought that this person was a small boy, but when the person opened their mouth, it was obvious that this person was a girl.

The girl was called then as Jane, and Jane then told everyone to follow her.

And so the group followed Jane, right into the home of the Volturi.

As the group jumped down some odd hole in the ground and then through a series of hallways, Bella and Edward had their first real reunion. With silent touches and sweet whispers, Bella thought that her heart was going to explode with joy. At least, right now, Edward acted as if he wanted to stay with her … as if he actually loved her.

Sadly, their meeting came to an end too fast, and by the time Bella realized it, they were in the home of the Volturi.

The group was then escorted into a smaller room, and it was here that the head of the family spoke to them.

His name was Aro, and he was a bit … special, to put it simply.

His attitude was a happy and giggly one, as if he were a schoolgirl with a crush. He was delighted to see Bella and Edward together, squealing about how lovely it was to see them happily ever after.

But of course, Aro was also interested in Bella … and the fact that Edward could not read her mind.

Calling over Jane, he then asked the young girl to use her special powers. This power was to be able to cause someone an intense amount of pain by just looking at them. And so, she turned her vision over on Bella.

Only for Edward to jump in the way, of course.

Within a few seconds, Edward lay curled on the floor, hissing in pain. Whatever had happened had hurt terribly. Yet within a few seconds, Edward was up, and right back at Bella's side, breathing deeply.

And then Jane turned her eyes upon Bella.

And nothing happened.

No pain came, no searing agony. Jane looked as if she were an inch away from ripping her face off, and to this, Aro simply placed his hand against the small girl's shoulder in a comforting way. A paradox, he called Bella. One that apparently no one could crack.

After more conversating with Aro, Alice, Edward, and Bella were allowed to leave the room and wait in the greeting room as so to await their fate.

Trembling with terror and sobbing softly, Bella clung tightly onto Edward's chest, and he carefully sat the two of them onto the ground. His strong arms had come around her then, pulling her close to his rock hard chest, trying to comfort her and to stop her cries. Her sweet breath against her lips sent her back into reality, and Bella clung tightly onto Edward as if it were the last time she would ever see him.

The funny thing was, if the Volturi decided to not let them free, it would be the last chance for her to see him.

Luckily for the trio, the Volturi allowed them to leave … yet they also said that they would be checking in. Alice knew what this meant. Edward did as well, much to his disgust and dislike.

The Volturi had an interest in Bella. And what they wanted, they always got.

Bella didn't know how long it would take for the Volturi to find her and turn her into a vampire, yet it was a day she knew she was going to dread.

Returning back home to Forks, the Cullens were awaiting with open arms. Thanking Bella for saving Edward, Esme pulled the girl into a tight hug. Sadly, Bella was so tired she barely felt this hug, and could barely speak. Her words came out as much, a simple flow of sounds.

Leading her to the car, Edward couldn't look at Rosalie as she opened the door for Bella and Edward. After all, was it not her fault that Edward had nearly killed himself? She had jumped to conclusions far too quickly. Obviously, Edward was still not over his anger.

Taking Bella home, Charlie was in a near panic fit. She had been gone for three days without so much as telling him where she had gone or who she was going with. Needless to say, Charlie was not too thrilled to see her looking so tired. And the fact that Edward was helping her inside didn't help either.

Being carried up to bed, Edward "left" her house out the front door, yet appeared a few seconds later back inside, having gone through the window. After all, he was quite fast, he could sneak anywhere he wanted.

While back inside the safety of her own room, Bella slowly drifted to sleep.

And when she awoke, she was in Edward's arms.

Swearing that she had actually drowned back in the lake, it was Edward's turn to tell her that she was not dead, that she was still alive and well and in his arms. She didn't believe it, of course … after all, he had told her that he didn't want her. He had said such cruel things, such heartbreaking words, and yet here he was, perfectly fine, alive, right in front of her.

The two spoke then … and everything came clear.

In order to save Bella, Edward came up with a plan. If he hurt her to a high extent … if he told her to move on …maybe she would forget about him, and she would have a happy, normal life. Yet it was obvious that this had backfired in his face.

When Bella told him how horrible it had been, he came clean as well about how horrible it had been for him too. He had spent months simply lying in agony on the ground of some cave, feeling as if he were being killed from the inside out. It made Bella glad to know that he was also feeling bad …

But it made her feel even better to know that he still loved her. That he would always love her.

He promised to stay by her side forever, which she was perfectly fine with. But then, he mentioned her at the age of thirty, and her whole world went spiraling down.

Thirty. She would be thirty, and he would eternally by seventeen. This was something she obviously didn't want happening. Ever.

So she sprung up and began to get dressed.

When asked why she was changing, Bella turned towards Edward and responded calmly.

"I'm going to your house."
"Why?"
"I'm putting my mortality on a vote."

She wanted to be a vampire just like him. That way, the two of them would be together forever …without her worrying about aging and looking horrible while he stayed young and perfect forever.

Reaching Edward's house, Bella began to speak to his family. The Cullens sat around a large table, listening to her speak, to try and win them over with her words. By the end, Carlisle agreed that it would be a much smarter idea to turn her into a vampire instead of the Volturi doing it …

And of course, Edward was strongly against this.

No, he wanted her to stay human. He didn't want her to endure the same fate he had, to live forever and watch those that you loved die around you.

Yet Bella didn't care.

Finally coming to a conclusion, it was decided that after graduation, Bella would be transformed.

And yet, Edward also had another deal to make.

He would promise to turn her …

If she married him.

At first, Bella thought it was a joke. Edward told her that he was serious, dead serious, and yet she still didn't believe him. It was a joke, it had to be. When asked why she wouldn't say yes, Bella simply told Edward about her feelings about the matter … and how her mother would react.

Before she could argue her point any farther, Charlie woke up, and Edward was gone …

Yet the moment her father was gone, Edward was back, lying under her covers.

With a smile, she watched as he stood up, and she kissed his lips.

Months later, Jacob came back to play. As it turned out, things were not going very well between the vampire and the werewolf family. Now between the two of them, Bella's only remaining problem was how she was going to tell Jacob that she was going to become a vampire.

That, and how she was going to explain to Charlie that she was still into extreme sports.
