On the bright side, Parker came in first in Houston's mayoral, followed by Gene Locke, and they'll be facing off in the run-off.

The news about Maine was the first headline to greet me from my Yahoo Mail page this morning.

I'm horrified, but at least the margin was a narrow one. But then again, with one so narrow, you can't help but wonder if it was the massive 'vote no' campaigns organized and funded by OUT OF STATE anti-gay marriage groups and religious organizations that tipped the scales. If so, I'm even more horrified.

That is both horrifying and likely. Though to be completely fair, there were lots of out-of-state volunteers and funders on the nay side, too.

But I'm too pissed off and tired to be completely fair. How is it that suppressing other people's personal and religious freedoms is that crucial to so many people?

I talked to my dad today and he said that, yes, a out of state religious money was instrumental in voting gay marriage down (my dad's way of putting this was far better than mine, but to avoid causing offense to your more religious readers, I've paraphrased).

Anyway, apparently there's now talk of looking into some of these organizations' 'tax exempt' activities.
