Wee bit of a dork...
Yeah... So I like the Harry Potter series, a lot (though not as much as my mom!) Although JK is not the best writer in the world, her stories are amazingly well thought out and gripping. I also like the fact that the books are true to age; that is, the first book is written in a way that an 11 year-old would understand and think, the second for a 12 year-old, and so on. To people who think the later books (4-7) are "too dark to be childrens' books" well, guess what, teenagers are dark by definition. Book told, accurately, about them aren't going to be about bunny rabbits and rainbows!
Alright, that being said:
I'm psyched for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince to come out! I remember reading the book and loving it (I figured "it" out before it was told... though it was still a guess!) The movie looks awesome from the trailers. My only complaint: OMG, it's rated PG!?!?! The last two have been PG13, are we going backwards? This book is WAY darker than book 4 if you ask me! I mean, yes, Harry's friend/teamate dies at the end of book four (poor Cedric!) but his father figure dies at the end of this one... MURDERED by someone he sorta kinda trusted and respected! How the bloody hell is that only "PG"! Seriously, ratings are getting slack! Thing would couldn't say on TV 10 years ago, now you can!
Not saying I'm for violence and stuff, but I want the movie to be PG13 because that (in my opinion) would be more likely to be true to the book... which is DARK!
Anyways, so I've been watching the trailers/reading spoilers (and by "spoilers" I mean actors and such since I already know the plot!) When the second movie trailer came out, my mom and I watched it together in HD on her HD, LCD, wide screen monitor. It was awesome! We then watched it again, but this time with commentary from us ("oh, that must be when...") Then watched it again hitting pause to talk certain scenes. Then yet again going basically frame-by-frame and contemplating each individual scene. We couldn't figure out a couple, but a search online reviled why; they added events... which is kinda annoying of them, but I will reserve full judgment until I see the movie.
Yeah... anyways, the point I was originally posting for is that I've just done it again; that is, I've watched a "new" trailer in slow motion/frame-by-frame. It's one of the TV trailers, and it's AWESOME! yeah...
So far, the thing that makes me really happy is how crappy Draco looks. By that I mean that he looks completed torn about what to do, and mega stressed, which is good! That's how he should look!
Last rant for the whole PG thing; the director described the movie as being the "year of sex, potions, and rock-n-roll" so why the hell is it not PG13?
