My name is Danni, I'm a twenty-something living in the Sunshine State! This is my Sunday June 10th, in which I:
-hug a wookie
-get the death stare from a Tusken Raider
-trade with a jawa
-get made fun of by a storm trooper
-was arrested by a bounty hunter
-hang out with some droids
also known as...Star Wars Weekends 2012!
[[in 52 pictures.]]

our alarm is awfully friendly this morning, despite the time!
especially when I didn't get to sleep until almost 2...
thanks, college.

thankfully, I'm a super genius and hung up all of our clothes the night before.
even socks!

we grab an overly nutritious breakfast from McDonald's [not pictured], and are offically on the road by 6!

I get a crappy shot of my favorite sight around 7, and we're parked in Hollywood Studios by 7:10.

The park isn't open yet, and the stormtroopers are still on the roof doing their show!

they're pretty funny.

...and menacing.

we do what any other self-respecting twenty-somethings do first thing in the morning:
ride Toy Story Mania.
I absolutely adore this ride/game and am undefeated against my boy.

our starchy chariot awaits...

even with only one contact, I still win, and get best in the vehicle [out of 4]
oh, yeah. I forgot to mention: on the drive to Orlando, one of my  contacts started to really bother me, so I had to take it out.
I fiddled with it in the parking lot before we went in to the park, but I kept blinking it out,
only to find out there was a rip right down the middle of it. LAME.

we head out of Pixar Place

and make our way down Sunset Boulevard towards that beautiful pink building.

we walk right on, and take our first ride of the day on Tower of Terror!

instead of heading across the street to Rock n Rollercoaster, we loop back around for another ride on a service elevator.

where we are presented with this gorgeous view
...before plummeting back down to the bottom.

finally, we head over to the other side of the park for our first SWW-related thing of the day.
and the first time you get to see my stupid face!

my boy, patiently waiting in line

for this!
everyone's favorite wookie!
he was HUGE!

we mosey back towards this guy, but not to ride! we're on a mission!

our final destination! the SWW merch tent!

why?

obviously to take really attractive pictures of ourselves!

and eat banana chips!

just kidding! it was so we could meet these guys!
C3PO asked if I was a mechanical droid, because I had blueprints for the Millennium Falcon on my shirt.
J asked how many languages he spoke, and he told us he was "fluent in more than 6 million forms of communication",
and asked if we had any specific ones in mind. J asked if he could speak wookie, and he said "of course I can" and made a wookie sound!!

we had other business to tend to in this joint:
getting Star Tours nametags with our names in Aurebesh!

we checked out the awesome art section while our badges were being made.
if we had a mantle, this would be over it.
without a second thought.

finally, our name badges are ready!
mine says I'm from Kashyyyk!

the boy's says he's from Tatooine!

we hop on The Great Movie Ride because it's so dang hot out already,
and it's one of our favorites!

J's sister and her fiance call to tell us they are at the park, but we have to go out to the car...

for this guy! a gift card from the Food and Wine festival at Epcot last October!
I thought we only had a few bucks left on it, which would go towards lunch.
Then I called the night before and found out it had almost twenty bucks on it!
heck yeah!

we met up with the other two, but their first order of business was to acquire a beer and wander around for a bit.
we parted ways temporarily, and learned how to draw Dopey, which I apparently don't have pictures of...

Then we went to wait in line to meet Boba Fett!

the Tusken Raiders were out while we were in line.

I find them absolutely horrifying.

so of course this happened. I was petrified, like I had just looked in to the eyes of a Basilisk.
in retrospect, I should have just scared him off.
but I didn't want them to come back in greater numbers. :/

after tormenting me, he accidentally knocked over the line for the rope.
He "HURRR"ed at it until a cast member picked it up.

no big deal, just vader hanging out in disney.

finally, the man of the hour.

He did NOT approve of our shirts.

After we took our picture with Boba Fett, he dragged J by his shoulder to his Cast Member, and pointed at his shirt. The cast member said, "it has Boba Fett and Chewbacca holding hands. we can't have that" and Boba put him in the corner.

every time he tried to get up, Boba Fett shook his head, "no", and pointed his gun at him.

after he was released, J joined a band!
I hear the bar they play in is a real dive, though.

eventually, we get hungry.
considering it's now after 3 and the last thing we had to eat was at 6 this morning.

pretty friendly welcome from such a jerk...
on our way to meet up with J's sister and her almost-hubby!

I pull out the toy car I'm going to trade with the Jawas!

we sat with them while they ate lunch, and this guy comes up and starts heckling me!

we wander around Streets of America looking for the Jawas,
when J's nearly-brother-in-law has his tattoos inspected by a clone trooper.

then moves on to his sister's.

it's hot and we can't find the Jawas, so we catch the car show!
it was my first time seeing it, and it's pretty cool!

jawas found, I trade my purple car for some purple beads,
and J trades his green car for star wars silly bands.

it's so cool that they're playing star wars characters, in disney, and you can still trade with them.
awesome.

I asked him to please get me a refill, and this is what I got instead.

we get distracted by the younglings fighting Darth Vader and Darth Maul.

I'm so happy the weather held out.
All week, it had been storming, and it was supposed to rain all afternoon while we were there.
we even bought ponchos from Walmart the night before.

we hang out with some ducklings while deciding if we wanted to stay for the dance show, or go to Downtown Disney.
our mind is made up when a Cast Member tells us they're not broadcasting it on the big screen tonight,
aka: where we were planning on watching it.

we all ride the tram out to the cars together, and say good-bye.
they headed to DTD, and we decided to put everything in the car to go back in to the park.
my only requirement was Tower of Terror at night.

After getting back in to the park, we were greeted with a 20 minute wait for TOT that was actually more like ten.
It. Was. Awesome.
if you ever have the chance to ride this at night, I highly suggest it.
Not only was it cool seeing the park lit up, but it felt way more intense.

as soon as we step off the ride, we see them. everywhere.
ponchos.
as in, the ponchos that we went out of our way to buy the night before, and put in the backpack, which is now in our car.
apparently, it had started to storm in the 20 minutes we were inside.
badly, at that.

instead of joining the swarms of people huddled inside shops, and under awnings, we walked hand in hand, happily down the street getting completely drenched, because there was nothing we could do about it anyways, and laughing our heads off.
we walked out to the car instead of waiting for the tram, because there was a massive line, and it would be faster anyways.

It was a stressful drive home, in some of the craziest/brightest/closest continuous lightning I have ever seen.

we literally dumped water out of our shoes when we got home.

it was a perfect day.
