(no subject)
so i havent been here in a while. I'm sitting with some kids i had to hold after school for behavior reasons. (as if the day isnt long enought.)
My Union rep came up to me, short 50something Italian woman, and asking me if someone (meaning a teacher) has been messing with me. I said no. She said if anyone does, "I'll rip their balls off." Guinney pride. (i think?)
Things have been cool for me, I just started working for this group called NYcoRE. (New York Collective of Radical Educators.) Its cool.. I'm taking a study group with them on Discuplining with a perspective of Social Justice. We're also working on an Anti-standardized testing campaign. Test that are notorious for holding poor youth and youth of color back.
That book club i tried started is kinda fizzling, its hard to promote... i cant do everything.
The mural project i am working on at the concortium is going amazing. i Have a group of 5 teenagers that are motivated. Its my first time leading a mural and i really enjoy it.
i hope i dont sound like I'm tuting my own horn. The problem with all this stuff is its kinda too much. I'm also trying to enroll in grad school- cuz i have to to keep my job. its hard choosing what thing to drop, cuz its all important to me.
