After 5 years, it's time to make a big change. On Tuesday, I started working at Library and Archives Canada. My job is to sort through the stacks, one shelf at a time, hunting for Canadiana to preserve, in preparation for a shift to a new high-density storage facility. I absolutely love it. The team are a lot of fun. I get to check out books all day. The stacks are incredible. I had no idea how huge the building really is, and the 7-year-old in me who used to check out 21 books at a time because the library had a maximum? She's going bonkers in the back of my head. The position is term, with a possibility to extend. That lets me apply internally of course, but I want to stay there. Is it wrong that I hope this project goes on forever?
