I feel honour-bound to make a post for the new year since I feel even more honour-bound to go for a walk, but can't due to the fact that it's still over 30 degrees.
Confession: I piked on
yuletide for the first time since the exchange began back in 2003. Too much depression and exhaustion had piled up by the time a shocking Christmas week stormed in to wreak havoc. Hopefully my would-be recipient won't think it's her, not me, because the fandom and the prompts were ideal. My head was just a blank and neither flesh nor spirit were willing and able.
Conversely, it means I've enjoyed
yuletide more than I have in years. Pressure's off! And I'm not the sort to feel too guilty about receiving gifts when I didn't give them, at least not when it comes to YT; I've seen the way the pinch-hits get snapped up. (Whereas I did feel bad about piking on
spn_j2_xmas since there's probably not the same huge pool of pinch-hitting diehards. Gulp.)
Plus with three anon comms (
fail_fandomanon,
yt_unofficial and
yuletide_coal) keeping me up to date with any YT gossip (yes, I am a shameless rubbernecker when it comes to fandom), there were stories of all sorts to keep my brain from dwelling too much on RL.
As to actual fic, I got just what I wanted: delicious BL. The great thing about asking for BL: you're virtually guaranteed of being placed with someone who ships the same characters you do. There were also the sorts of stories I've been wanting for ages, like post-Under the Dome Ollie and Ames, and cringe-making yet tender Ralph/Ted from The Fast Show, and even my longed-for Ladyhawke OT3:
